Welcome back to my blog, guys! Today I bring you my classic weekly review to show you 3 songs to start the week with energy; today's theme is curious, because they are a duo of artists that caught my attention too long ago because they are incredibly talented singers who do Spanish versions of very popular songs, but not with literal translations as often happens, but they write the versions in Spanish.
They have long since become my inspiration to do the covers you have seen from me, writing unpublished lyrics for songs in English, always trying to keep the pronunciation in line with the English pronunciation while maintaining the meaning of the lyrics, just as they do.
You will see why I love them so much, just delight yourselves, so, without further ado, let's get started!
¡Bienvenidos de nuevo a mi blog, chicos! El día de hoy les traigo mi clásica reseña de cada semana para mostrarles 3 canciones para empezar la semana con energía; la temática de hoy es curiosa, porque son un dúo de artistas que me llamaron la atención demasiado hace tiempo porque son cantantes increíblemente talentosos que hacen versiones en español de canciones muy populares, pero no con traducciones literales como muchas veces sucede, sino que ellos escriben las versiones en español.
Desde hace tiempo se volvieron mi inspiración para hacer los covers que han visto de mi parte, escribiendo letras inéditas para canciones en inglés, siempre intentando que la pronunciación vaya acorde a la del inglés y a su vez se mantenga el sentido de la letra, del mismo modo como lo hacen ellos.
Ya verán el por qué los amo tanto, simplemente deléitense, así que, sin más que agregar, ¡comencemos!
1.- All Of Me (Spanish Version) ft Vesta & Dani Ride
This is the first song I heard from them as a Spanish version, the mythical song “All of Me” by John Legend, in conjunction with two artists named Vesta and Dani Ride who are also no slouches in the way they sing because they have a very polished technique.
In this case, the first thing I noticed that I loved was that the song was higher in tonality and it makes sense for the female voices, but I was impressed that the male singers dared to sing in that tonality too, especially in the treble part of the climax of the song, it's just awesome, I loved the lyrics very much, it doesn't feel like an uncomfortable lyric because it's in Spanish.
Esta es la primera canción que escuché de parte de ellos como versión en español, la mítica canción "All of Me" de John Legend, en conjunto con dos artistas llamados Vesta y Dani Ride que tampoco se quedan atrás en la manera en la que cantan porque tienen una técnica demasiado pulida.
En este caso, lo primero que noté que me encantó fue que la canción estaba más alta en tonalidad y tiene sentido por las voces femeninas, pero me impresionó que los cantantes masculinos se atrevieron a cantar también en esa tonalidad, sobretodo en la parte de los agudos del clímax de la canción, es simplemente impresionante, la letra me encantó muchísimo, no se siente como una letra incómoda por ser en español.
2.- Pillowtalk (Spanish Version) feat DOMAC
This is, without a doubt, the best Spanish version I have ever heard of a popular song, because I know the original version and I love it too much, Zayn Malik's voice is not at all easy to interpret, because his vocal range is quite wide, but Kevin Vasquez does an awesome job to cover it, to the point that, if you know the song and Zayn's voice, you might think it's him singing in Spanish, because they even have very similar tessituras.
The chorus has too much power, I thought it wouldn't be so easy for me to like it, because I had already been listening to covers of them for a while, but when I read the title I told myself that it was really a challenge and I didn't want it to go wrong because probably, if the version hadn't been as perfect as it is, maybe I wouldn't have kept listening to anything more of them.
Este es, sin lugar a dudas, la mejor versión en español que he podido escuchar de una canción popular, porque conozco la versión original y me encanta demasiado, la voz de Zayn Malik no es para nada sencilla de interpretar, porque su rango vocal es bastante amplio, pero Kevin Vásquez hace un trabajo impresionante para versionarlo, al punto de que, si conoces la canción y la voz de Zayn, podrías pensar que es él cantando en español, porque tienen incluso tesituras muy parecidas.
El estribillo tiene demasiado poder, pensé que no sería tan fácil de que me gustara, porque ya tenía un rato escuchando covers sobre ellos, pero cuando leí el título me dije a mí mismo que realmente era un reto y no quería que saliera mal porque probablemente, si la versión no hubiera sido tan perfecta como lo es, tal vez no habría seguido escuchando más nada de ellos.
3.- Attention (Spanish Version) - Kevin Vásquez
I know this review is about the duo “Kevin and Karla”, but this Spanish version I can't let it pass in my review even though it's only by Kevin, because this song also I found it more than amazing in its original version because Charlie Puth is a songwriter of another category, but this version is TOTAL CRAZY, it seems once again as if Charlie is singing in Spanish, although Kevin's kind of voice doesn't sound so much like Charlie's because it would lack a little bit of nasal sound.
However, I feel that this version could reproduce it much more than the original song, if it had the rhythm of the original song surely I could never stop listening to it and I would have to put it on any time of my day; I love too much how he plays with his register and different types of voices, because he handles too well his middle voice, his chest voice and his head voice, each transition note has an almost unhuman precision, it's just brilliant.
Sé que esta reseña es del dúo "Kevin y Karla", pero esta versión en español no puedo dejarla pasar en mi reseña a pesar de que es solo de Kevin, porque esta canción también me pareció más que increíble en su versión original porque Charlie Puth es un compositor de otra categoría, pero esta versión es UNA LOCURA TOTAL, parece una vez más como si Charlie estuviera cantando en español, aunque el tipo de voz de Kevin no se parece tanto a la de Charlie porque le faltaría un poco de sonido nasal.
Sin embargo, siento que esta versión podría reproducirla mucho más que la canción original, si tuviera el ritmo de la canción original segúramente no podría dejar de escucharla nunca y tendría que colocarla en cualquier momento de mi día; me encanta demasiado el cómo juega con su registro y diferentes tipos de voces, porque maneja demasiado bien su voz media, su voz de pecho y su voz de cabeza, cada nota de transición tiene una precisión casi unhumana, es simplemente brillante.
Bonus Track.- Die With A Smile (Spanish Version)
As soon as I read this title I said to myself “YES, THEY DID IT!”, because obviously they had to do this version because of how popular the original song by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga has been so far; they have enough quality to do that song.
However, with a lot of pain I must say that I didn't like the lyrics 100%, I feel that it was a version with a lot of translation and not like they did before writing them so that it would sound much more comfortable in Spanish, there are parts of the song where it sounds strange to me, but maybe it's me being very demanding with them because I have many years as a fan.
Obviously on a musical level it is incredible, their voices do the job that is required for their types of voices, it is simply magnificent, I think that if the lyrics had been a little different, I would have loved it a lot more.
Apenas leí este título me dije "¡SI, LO HICIERON!", porque obviamente ellos tenían que hacer esta versión por lo popular que ha sido hasta el momento es demasiado popular la canción original de Bruno Mars y Lady Gaga; ellos tienen la calidad suficiente como para hacer esa canción.
Sin embargo, con mucho dolor debo decir que la letra no me gustó al 100%, siento que fue una versión con mucha traducción y no como hacían antes de escribirlas para que se escuchara mucho más cómoda en español, hay partes de la canción donde me suena extraño, pero tal vez sea yo que soy muy exigente con ellos porque tengo muchos años como fan.
Obviamente a nivel musical está increíble, sus voces hacen el trabajo que se requiere por sus tipos de voces, es simplemente magnífico, creo que si la letra hubiera sido un poquito distinta, la habría amado muchísimo más.
