Ball der Wiener Philharmoniker - Vienna Philharmonic Ball [ D / E ]

Die Ballsaison 22/23 in Wien ist im vollen Gange und nach zwei Jahren pandemiebedingter Absagen gibt es heuer endlich auch wieder die schönsten und traditionsreichsten Bälle der Stadt. Zu diesen Bällen zählt natürlich auch der Ball der Wiener Philharmoniker, der letzten Donnerstag (19.01.23) zum 80. Mal stattfand.

Der Ball der Wiener Philharmoniker fand wie gewöhnlich im Wiener Musikverein statt.

Ich habe bei der Eröffnung des Balles mitgewirkt. Gemeinsam mit Kollegen war es meine Aufgabe, einen Bereich neben dem Großen Saal abzusichern. Bekleidet waren wir dabei als herrschaftliche Diener im Livree, um quasi auch als optischer Aufputz des Balles während der Anfangsphase traditionellen Flair zu vermitteln.

Wie jedes Jahr bemühen sich die Besucher, die keinen Logenplatz im Goldenen Saal haben, darum, einen der wenigen guten Plätze zu ergattern, um die sehens- und hörenswerte Eröffnung des Balles direkt mitverfolgen zu können. Allerdings sind diese Plätze rar und sehr rasch besetzt. Da anfangs alle Besucher ihre Tische, Logen, oder einen guten Platz mit Sicht auf den Ballsaal suchen, herrscht naturgemäß zunächst reges Treiben, das im zunehmenden Gedränge mündet, welches sich erst nach der Eröffnung auflöst.

Die Balleröffnung des Philharmoniker Balls fand wie immer im prachtvollen Großen Musikvereinssaal, dem sogenannten "Goldenen Saal" statt. Der Saal gilt übrigens als einer der schönsten und akustisch besten Säle der Welt. Am Anfang des Programms stand der Einzug des Ehrenkomitees und der Eröffnungspaare. Anschließend spielten die Wiener Philharmoniker (eines der besten Orchester der Welt) die Ouvertüre zu Leichte Kavallerie von Franz von Suppè. Nach der Darbietung gab es die gewohnte Unterbrechung, um die Instrumente, Sessel und Musikpulte des Orchesters durch eine eigens dafür vorgesehene Bodenöffnung nach unten zu verstauen. Danach ging die Eröffnung mit der sehr gelungenen Tanzdarbietung der Jungdamen und Jungherren unter der Leitung von Prof. Dkfm. Thomas Schäfer Elmayer weiter.

Mit den Worten "Alles Walzer" wurde der Ball dann für alle eröffnet. Danach habe ich mir dem Dresscode des Balles entsprechend meinen Frack angezogen und mich ins Ballgeschehen gestürzt. Ich habe mich sehr gut unterhalten, getanzt, gespeist, das eine oder andere Gläschen getrunken und jede Menge Spaß gehabt.

Wie immer ist der Ball viel zu schnell zu Ende gegangen - kurz nach 5 Uhr früh war Schluss. Am Ende beteiligte ich mich noch an der üblichen Jagd nach dem Blumenschmuck, bevor ich mich nach Hause begab.

The ball season 22/23 in Vienna is in full swing and after two years of cancellations due to the pandemic, this year the most beautiful and traditional balls in the city are finally back. Of course, one of these balls is the Vienna Philharmonic Ball, which took place for the 80th time last Thursday (01/19/23).

The ball of the Vienna Philharmonic took place as usual in the Vienna Musikverein.

I helped open the ball. My job, together with colleagues, was to secure an area next to the Golden Hall. We were dressed as stately servants in livery, in order to convey traditional flair during the initial phase as a visual embellishment of the ball.

As every year, the visitors who do not have a box seat in the Golden Hall try to get one of the few good seats to be able to follow the opening of the ball, which is worth seeing and hearing, directly. However, these places are rare and filled very quickly. Since initially all visitors are looking for their tables, boxes or a good place with a view of the ballroom, there is naturally a lot of activity at first, which ends in increasing crowds, which only dissolves after the opening.

As always, the ball opening of the Philharmonic Ball took place in the magnificent Great Music Association Hall, the so-called "Golden Hall". Incidentally, the hall is considered one of the most beautiful and acoustically best halls in the world. The program began with the entry of the honorary committee and the opening couples. Then the Vienna Philharmonic (one of the best orchestras in the world) played the overture to Light Cavalry by Franz von Suppè. After the performance, there was the usual break to stow the orchestra's instruments, chairs and music desks through a specially designed floor opening. This was followed by the opening with the dance performance by the young ladies and gentlemen, which was very successful, under the direction of Prof. Dkfm. Thomas Schäfer Elmayer.

The ball was then opened for everyone with the words "Alles Walzer". After that I put on my tails according to the dress code of the ball and threw myself into the ball. I had a lot of fun, danced, ate, drank a glass or two and had a lot of fun.

As always, the ball ended far too quickly - shortly after 5 a.m. it was over. I ended up participating in the usual hunt for some floral decorations before heading home.
