This week in My California I'm back to playing some guitar. And once again I'm covering a song by the recently famous folk singer/songwriter Oliver Anthony. First I covered his song 'Doggonit' then I covered '90 Some Chevy' and this week I'll be covering 'I Wanna Go Home'. In this song Oliver sings about his feelings of angst in todays modern society with us being "on the brink of the next world war" and "rich men" buying up generational farmland where then "the trees go down, only got concrete growin' around" meanwhile people "all just do what the TVs say". And so as the title of the song says Oliver just wants to "go home" which really means going back to a time when life was more simple because "livin' in this new world" as he puts it, is driving him crazy and "if it weren't for my old dogs and the good Lord, they'd have me strung up in the psych ward" which is my favorite line in the song and it's how he both begins and ends it. And so, without further ado... here is my cover of 'I Want To Go Home'!
