Barbie The Groove

For this Tuesday, I want to share a few songs from musicals I watched as a kid. I happened to have a hit of nostalgia yesterday.

Incase you’re wondering, this is Three Tunes Tuesday Week 170 started by our very own @ablaze.

Like I was saying, I had this hit of nostalgia coming across a song by Barbie on Spotify and I just went , "Oh my word! I need to re-watch as many Barbie movies as I can".

So after going through my work for the entire day, I kicked back and turned on Barbie: Rock N’ Royals via YouTube and my oh my, did I have a blast! I sure did! I laughed at the corny scenes and enjoyed the sing-a-longs. I was in Barbie heaven!

For this TTT, it was so hard to pick!! Only 3? I get to share just 3? Well I have to share then.

Barbie: Rock N’ Royals - Finale Mashup

This was a spectacular mix of Capella and Rock! Bro! I was in girl heaven and I legit got up to dance to this song at 1am in the morning.

I still get goosebumps listening to it and I listen on Spotify now. The whole harmony and rhythm was just beautifully created.

Barbie: The Princess & The Popstar - Here I Am (Tori Version)

Who remembers this?! I loved Kiera’s version but for some reason Tori’s version felt so much more powerful. Even now, it’s jamming in my ears as I write this and hear those lyrics? I was little then but I remember how I never stopped singing those words.

Even now in my twenties, the words are still very much appealing to me. I still get goosebumps from listening to this song!

Barbie: In the Pink Shoes - Keep on Dancing

This holds a special place in my heart and not just for the movie that was about dance. I like to dance but I suck so much at it.

It doesn’t stop me one bit though. I dance (away from eyes) to my content. I would dance to this song then and I still do even now.

Bonus

Barbie: The Princess & The Popstar - To be a Princess / To be a Popstar

Okay this song is so special for so many reasons. First, you may not believe me, but I used the instructions in this song to correct my walking posture.

I used to slouch, so when I came across,

Shoulders back and, tummy in and…

I just used that. I know, I let a couple of cartoon characters tell me what to do. Call me delulu. I was a kid then lol.

I don't exactly remember these songs, but listening to them took me way back to when I used to love Barbie and watch every single episode. Yes, I watched Barbie too. Lol. My favourite was the Island Princess. So sad that cartoons may never be like this.

I'm honestly surprised coz I've never seen a guy talk about Barbie 😂. My bro was always ready to burn our TV whenever we were watching Barbie 😂

Boys liking Barbie in my day meant you were a poofter and odds are you got beaten up.

But I am so glad you hold yourself high now! Yes no slouching!

Well, I haven't seen almost these Barbie movies because I honestly find them rather childish for my taste. I've only seen a couple, those like the nutcracker and another one like it for classics reasons and I wanted to see the Barbie style version.

Now the songs you share, they have a style of their own and I totally understand what you describe as they have that spark that provokes you to listen to them more than once. Thanks for sharing! 💕

Yeah. I was a child when I watched them. Many of the audience were children... lol

The songs are great. They still possess "pizazz" even after all these years
