Hello everyone! how are you? I hope you are all safe and in good health always. It's June and for teachers in the Philippines, it's already an undisturbed vacation. Hehehe. Well, for me it can't be because I still have lots of papers to comply with. I still have some important documents needed for submission. But it's already voluntary. Well, today I will be sharing one of the highlights of Bogo City town Fiesta. Bogo town fiesta is one of the most awaited fiestas in Northern Cebu. Why? It's because there were carnivals with many rides and other entertainment for which children love exploring and playing. Many activities were also performed such as concerts, showcasing of talents, etc. The Fiesta celebration was in honor of Saint Vincent Ferrer, the holy saint and miraculous one that's why many devotees would visit the town every fiesta to pray to the blessed Patron of the town.

One of the highlights of the celebration is the showcasing of their traditional dance known as Kuyayang. Kuyayang is the traditional courtship dance in Bogo. I remember when I was once a Kuyayang dancer year 2002. I was still 22 years old at that time and I was a teacher in one of the private institutions in Bogo. We also had our street dancing but we haven't had a float at that time. The festival had improved since there was already a parade of floats. Each float was sponsored by government and private firms in Bogo like Palawan Pawnshop, Association of Bankers, Prince City Inn, and others. Every float was designed and decorated attractively by the sponsoring firms or organizations. I enjoyed watching the float parade as well as the street dancing. It makes the town festive and colorful for guests. The parade and Street dancing started in Gaisano Bogo to Bogo City Sports Complex where the showdown took place. After every float, there were dancers of kuyayang showing their talents in dancing the traditional courtship dance. Their lovely and colorful dresses make us smile for it looks wonderful and amazing.

It was a fabulous celebration and showcasing of the skills, talents, and creativity of all Bogohanon. As I witnessed the celebration, I could tell that we had a lot of our culture and tradition to be proud of. If possible it must be still practiced until now and or should be remembered.

That's all thank you for reading.
