Motivational Mondays: Just How Far Can a Touch of Love Go? Farther Than We Think!

IMG_20250325_135051.jpg

Since I drafted this post, things have changed a great deal in Free Compliments ... but I think this post still epitomizes how many of us have come to feel about the community, so, since I had it ready, I am going to publish it, and bless us as we go off into the sunset ... or not.

My pastor is always one for reminding us all in the congregation: "Give people their flowers while they can smell them." Consider it another reason for me, now that I can, to take myself up to Alamo Square Park ... giving myself flowers while letting them live so others can enjoy them ...

... and so that made finding this message on the bench I chose for my sunny day extra special ... nobody died ... that was nice ...

"Missy & Manny, the genius and the joyful. Roxie Heart the adventurer, and LOML. Our sunshine on cloudy days."

So I was thinking that LOML was an organization in San Francisco, and so went to search it out ... and indeed, in the streets of one of the world's most storied city, you can indeed find LOML ... many have ... sometimes the city itself stands in ... I'll let Tony Bennett sing and explain as only he can ...

LOML means "Love of My Life." So, whoever put together this dedicated plaque together let the world know who to get with on San Francisco's many cloudy days ... the implication of "Our sunshine" suggests that we have here two couples who are close friends, Missy and Manny being one, known for their intelligence and joy, and the other being Roxie the adventurer and the person who dedicated the plaque.

The love of romance, with the love of friendship supporting it ... a beautiful combination, glowing in the sunshine on Alamo Square Park, and offering support on sunny and cloudy days to passers-by ... a story of love overflowing into my life and time too ... a blessing running over, just because the person who did this plaque did not wait until his or her beloveds had passed, but let the love be known now so anyone passing by can be touched by it.

We just never know, when we choose to show love, how many people might find refuge and rest in that love ... from that person's heart to a park bench to Web 3, the journey is continuing of that touch of love ... so as you go about your week, consider how much a touch of love from you to someone you love might do! Take a long view on that!

beautifully written (and combined with music and photos) post! It's great to see a message like that on the bench, written BEFORE the mentioned people passed away... Don't know which part of the plaque is sending a bigger message... The love couple, or the third person who REALIZED that love, appreciated, and shared with others... To inspire, to motivate? People in the park, and now, everyone on Web3... 💜

Thanks for sharing! I needed this to see today!

Thank you so much for reading and curating this post -- a lot has happened to Free Compliments, but I felt the inner nudge to not give up on posting it ... so glad that it blessed you!

A rather large whale made it his business to do a lot of public campaigning and DVing in this last week ... but there are still people to encourage who need this community ... so I decided not to give up... not yet.

Thank you so much for offering encouragement to me ... I can say to you what happened more plainly ... I did have it scheduled, put it back in draft, thought and prayed about it. The Holy Spirit said, "Post it." So, I scheduled it again. On Sunday I read in the Scripture about what to do when confronted with evil: STAND (see Ephesians 6:10 and onward). So, I'm standing until called off post!

Far too often we look back on what we had and long for what once was. In the struggle of everyday life we can forget to see what we have.
I love how this person has not only seen but acknowledged what they have through this plaque and shared it for whomever may come across this bench.
Thanks for sharing this bench with the world so we can all enjoy our flowers whilst they are in bloom.
Have a great day!

I thought this as well, and that it was so beautiful -- just blooming gratitude in all four seasons of the year, for everyone who passes by -- and that was a full use of the plaque space and an investment in putting that plaque there. So, I thought the least I could do was to let it bloom on -- thank you for reading!

It is a beautiful gesture and reminder of the paths and benches where love walks or rests, moments that we find in melodies, silences, or the simple existence of souls that we know are close because we have touched each other from a distance.

The soul knows no distance ... a touch of love can go for ages ... how many people have read that bench and been touched and told the story, and how many will be? Who will take courage and reach out in love for someone else, and touch off new generations of love and loving? We are now a part of that great love story, as we pass by, and through this place called Hive ... but the soul knows no distance...
