Hive Music Festival Week 143 Round 2 - "Ángeles de paso" by Ernán López-Nussa

Hola, amigos de Hive. Como les había dicho en mi anterior publicación esta semana les traigo algo más de Ernán López-Nussa, pianista y compositor cubano cuya música me atrapa e inspira. "Ángeles de paso" es esa obra que me introdujo a la interpretación del estilo jazzístico cuando era solo un muchacho aprendiendo a tocar el piano, esa mezcla de clásico con una improvisación muy bien concebida me abrió los horizontes musicales a algo nuevo y fascinante para mí. Desde entonces comencé a incorporar a mi repertorio gran parte de la obra de este compositor, y con el paso de los años he ido sumando mis propias experiencias artísticas a mi manera de interpretarlas.

Si bien está pieza no destaca por su complejidad técnica, debo mencionar que la variedad de emociones que transmite es tremenda, desde la melancolía, el misterio, hay incluso un diálogo juguetón entre algunas de sus frases melódicas, y también encuentro algo de solemnidad en su desarrollo y desenlace armónico.

Sin dudas esta obra amerita ser apreciada, y es mi deseo compartirla con todos ustedes.

En la siguiente semana les traeré algo más de Ernán López-Nussa para aquellos que como yo disfrutan de su música. Un abrazo a todos.

Hello, friends of Hive. As I had told you in my previous post this week I bring you more from Ernán López-Nussa, Cuban pianist and composer whose music captures and inspires me. "Passing angels" is that work that introduced me to the interpretation of the jazz style when I was just a boy learning to play the piano, that mixture of classical with a very well conceived improvisation opened my musical horizons to something new and fascinating for me. Since then I began to incorporate much of this composer's work into my repertoire, and over the years I have added my own artistic experiences to my own way of interpreting them.

Although this piece does not stand out for its technical complexity, I must mention that the variety of emotions it conveys is tremendous, from melancholy, mystery, there is even a playful dialogue between some of its melodic phrases, and I also find some solemnity in its harmonic development and denouement.

Undoubtedly this work deserves to be appreciated, and it is my wish to share it with all of you.
