Recording With Passion: My Creative Process Behind 'Dissolve'
Hey everyone! Wishing you all an amazing day! Here’s @davidfar (Davood Faramarzi) with another original piece of music called "Dissolve." It's a song about relationships and one of the tracks I wrote in my recording studio, likely back in 2023.
(I don't have my old studio so I share this new photo in my new location that I took in 2025)
but I also have one old photo from my old Recording studio:
I recorded this track with my new acoustic guitar, an Ibanez PF15ECE-NT. It was one of the guitars I had planned to buy in the future, but with my family's help, I was able to purchase it earlier. In this song, you can hear how I used the guitar's pickup for recording. With my older guitar, I always had to record using a mic. While a mic has its own unique character, the pickup offers high-quality sound and eliminates background noise.
In some parts I used a vst Filter called Murda Melodies which adds a nice sound on guitar and make your guitars super guitar haha, cause you can even make it sound like a 12 string or even more than that, a lot of effects. in this song I used its telephone effect for the intro.
For the drums I used EZdrummer, I wanted it to have a huge sound so I worked on its sounds to make it big, and I wrote these drum notes differently than the usual way that I was writing drums (Focused on Kicks and Tama), I wanted these instruments to be busy like if we are on a stage playing live together.
For Bass, I used Modo Bass Vst but I wanted it to be between simple and advance, so when drums start playing Bass is more active than rest of parts.
For my vocals, I started with mid and low tones, and then for the chorus, I added harmonies to make the vocals sound fuller and more dynamic. I think it also makes the song more beautiful. Since I often struggle to decide whether to sing high or low, I use this technique in some of my songs.
This approach will be familiar to people who listen to bands like Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, and many other great old bands that used similar methods. Typically, I play the first line and, without any preparation, start singing along. I just pick a note instinctively, and because my ears are well-trained, I manage to catch the right notes and sing the harmony accurately. I do this entirely by experience—I never formally learned it.
Later, I remembered how I developed this skill. When I was a kid, my father would gather us all together, and we would sing a prayer in harmony. At the time, I didn’t know much about it, but it was during those moments that I unknowingly learned to sing harmonies. I’m not religious, but I think these aspects of religion—like communal singing—are truly wonderful.
In past (I think it was 2012) I was using Alctron MC002 mic which It was not bad, but later I bought an Australian made Mic called Rode NT1 which was more advanced than my previous mic.
At 0:43, I wanted to create a space for my vocals to shine and flow freely, so I decided to keep it simple with just an acoustic guitar playing emotional melodies. To enhance the atmosphere, I incorporated the natural harmonics technique on the guitar, using fingerpicking to bring out its delicate, bell-like tones.
At the end, I wrapped up the song with a short solo and a recurring riff that carries through to the conclusion, blending natural harmonics with regular picking to create a seamless flow.
Lyrics:
Nobody wants to dissolve it
I took all the blame on my shoulders
take it or leave it behind now
I don't have time for discussions
Breathing in and breathing out all the
pains that you've grown in my soul
fighting on a narrow string
we might fall and end this dream
I was young, and I had a heart
what you gave me, tear me apart
but I am not leaving, I am not leaving
myself in the dark, myself in the dark
cause I can fix, myself all alone
Chorus again:
nobody wants to dissolve it
I took all the blame on my shoulders
take it or leave it behind now
I don't have time for discussions
Breathing in and breathing out all the
pains that you've grown in my soul
fighting on a narrow string
we might fall and end this dream
How do I write lyrics?
I studied English Literature at university, but even before attending university, I had already begun writing songs and poems in two languages: Persian (Farsi) and English. From a young age, I wrote poems in Persian (from when I was 7 years old), and later, when I learned English, I started creating songs and poems in that language as well.

Thanks for following my journey in music and listening and giving me feedback on my posts. I hope you enjoyed
Peace and Love!
I love all the details about the production as I have lots to learn about that. Your new guitar sounds great and I was thinking that on your recent video too.
I was never really a singer for most of my life. I would join in with various singing, but never performed on my own. Then I started going to pub sessions a few (maybe 15?) years back and had to sing. Nobody has told me stop so far :)
Thank you my friend, I am happy that this post was informative and useful.
About the guitar, I searched for it like 5 years, until I could reach it, I even listened to high price guitars and I felt that this is even better than some of those high price guitars, for example I compared it with another model which it was Steve Vai's signature guitar, but it was thin body, so I chose this one cause it has a deeper and huge sound compare to that one.
About singing, I like every artists special characteristic of singing, and I know that you also have your character in singing. For example think Leonard Cohen and then Michael Jackson, then James Hetfield and Jim Morison, you see the names and then you remember character of each singer's voice.
Separated from that, it is great that you have time with your band and you perform in pubs I like that, I like to have some other musicians beside me to play songs together here in Iran. But it is hard to get together a band you know. 🙂
My last performances were with a new friend that I recently met, one time on side walks in North of Tehran as buskers, and another time in an official exhibition in south of Tehran, with a DIY drums made of trash and recycling stuffs and a guitar (we had a plan for a project ... long story) lol.
I like this sound my friend! Very well executed transitions, and I think the vocal and guitar mixing are pretty solid.
Thank you Adryen, Im happy you enjoyed. 😀🤘
Hey there David! I really enjoyed the song while I was reading your creative process. I'm a huge fan of Alice in Chains, I heard their influence right away in your harmonies. I use the same technique to make my harmonies too! Just singing along the main line until I find the harmony that fits the best.
I used Modo bass one time too, because I don't have a 5 string bass and I had to use a plugin to simulate that. For acoustic drums sounds I use Steven Slate, pretty happy with the free version.
I'm glad to find other skilled musicians here, cheers! ✌️
Thanks mate, Im happy to read your kind comment, Grunge bands were great man, specially AIC 🙌.
I agree, modo is good for situations like that, unfortunately I never had a Bass but maybe in future I will have one, there are also some great plugins which we should add them on Kontakt and they have realistic samples of Bass, such as Scarbee Rickenbacker.
But for a sample Library like Scarbee I need a lot of space on my hard drive or ssd drive. I didn't buy them (though I dont even have access to buy them), we just download them here. Cause you know the situation is different in my place. But still sometimes I use the free vst plugins.
Thanks again for checking out my music. I am happy to meet you here my friend, maybe in future we can work on some songs together. \mm/
Well I'm about to buy a 5 strings bass so I won't need any plugin anymore eheh
Sure for the collab 💪🏻
That's cool, I am cooking something for a collab, I might prepare some metal riff so you can play the solo section. 🤘
