New Updates - Building a Silent Room for my new Recording Studio
Yo guys! I hope everyone had a great day!
A lot of things happened, but I am not the one who will give up in hard situations in life. I skip some parts of my life’s story and move forward to where I am living at the moment and what I am doing now.
Lately, we moved to Tehran city, which took a lot of time for us to find the right place and settle down, As soon as we arrived and took rest, I started building a silent room with my cousin's help. My idea was to start a new recording studio in Tehran city, and I hope I can make it a popular Recording studio and have lots of artists record their songs here. and it would be a pleasure for me to produce and record lots of different styles and genres of music and bring the best production for my customers.
It had to be a surprise but well this is the final image of my studio.
so here are some photos of the place and also the silent room and my studio setup.
This was the living room which became my room and work place at the same time cause at the moment we dont have lots of space for 2 people (me and my brother), it is a 66m apartment, I used to live in bigger places at least 85m.
The place is a little bit messy but well these are the only photos I have from the process. I sat there to test how much space I can have if we complete this structure.
I tried to build it on a specific budget, so I had to buy things from different places — a platform where people sell their stuff, or shops where they sell wood at better prices. I also needed rock wool and fabrics, and a double-glaze window, which we only found at the last moment. The whole process took us about 30 days, since we didn’t have everything from the very beginning.
A lot of screws — I mean really a huge number of them — and tons of drilling holes into the wood with a drill, all while being in an apartment and trying to be careful not to bother the neighbors with the noise. And then, after all that, we went through a lot of trouble fitting the rock wool between the wooden frames. and then we used wire to secure the rock wool in place and make sure it stayed firmly where it should.
We felt really good when we saw how it kept looking better and better. and now we are going to see the final version of the silent room (now it is acoustic and there is no echo and it also helps supress outside noises, and also I can perform there and my neighours wont be able to hear a loud noise, If you want to make it completely noiseless, you need to use heavy walls and put more rockwools between the walls. but for me this was more than enough:
I used some led lights that I already have but later I also added a small led lamp with 8W to add more light to the room so if someone wanted to read something there, he/she can do it easily.
The last thing I did was set up my studio devices. I needed two headphones, so I bought a new one — an AKG K240, which is an open-back headphone and great for mixing and mastering, and I put my older headphone (akg k72) in the silent room and also my mic (Rode NT1) for recording and another mic in the control room. (I had two mics but I liked the style of this new one though it is more good for live performances as it is not a condencer mic) It is a chinese made mic called Takstar TA 55D.
Me and my brother, he is in the silent room playing his favorite song.
Ok guys, I wanna let you know that I am working on some new music projects, and I hope I can finish them as soon as possible to release more songs in 2025, since I haven’t done that yet on my Spotify.
See ya!
enjoy life!
That's cool. It must be tricky to make music with close neighbours. I'm lucky that my house stands apart from others. You did a good job on the booth. Does it get warm in there? I have some K240 headphones too. They seem to be a popular choice.
Hey Steev, nice to see you :), because of heat, I record in shorter takes, and if someone likes to sing none stop, between their records I ask them to take a short break and I keep its door open to refresh the air and it also becomes cool with the AC that I have in this room. and also I usually pre cool the room before records. K240 was new for me as I always used closed back headphones, but I am getting used to it now, it has a great quality.
Blocking sound also keeps in the heat. I expect that fans would cause extra noise. You just have to do what you can. I hope the studio keeps busy.
Exactly, I think maybe I should put a small USB AC Cooling (the ones that you can put ice inside it) so it might be a little better. I havent test those ACs to see how it would be but I am just thinking about a solution for that :D. Thank you so much I also wish you the best :)
