Entrevista en la MEGA
Desde hace un año soy el guitarrista de Gaby Domingo. Y ahora clasificamos como banda en el festival Nuevas bandas. Este es el festival de bandas más grande del país. Recibe full atencion mediatica y es un buen momento para activar las redes sociales. Una de las ventajas de este festival son las constantes invitaciones a la radio. Y una de las radio mas influyentes del pais dentro de la movida alternativa es la mega.
I've been Gaby Domingo's guitarist for a year now. And now we're qualifying as a band for the Nuevas Bandas festival. This is the largest band festival in the country. It receives a lot of media attention and is a great time to activate social media. One of the advantages of this festival is the constant radio invitations. And one of the most influential radio stations in the country within the alternative scene is La Mega.
Esa noche salí algo temprano del trabajo -pero no le digan a mi empresa- para poder asistir a la hora pautada. Domingo pasó por mi y nos fuimos a la estación. En el carro aprovechamos para ensayar la canción nueva de Gaby llamada Mérida ya que planeábamos tocarla en vivo. Todo esto daría un giro inesperado posteriormente.
That night I left work a little early—but don't tell my company—so I could make it to the scheduled time. Domingo picked me up, and we headed to the station. In the car, we took the opportunity to rehearse Gaby's new song, Mérida, since we were planning to play it live. All of this would take an unexpected turn later.
Al llegar a la estación ensayamos un poco más y esperamos a que no vinieran a buscar. Cuando uno de los chicos y nos vio con una guitarra encima, nos preguntaron que queríamos cantar y al unísono respondimos “Merida”. A lo que el chico nos respondió “No pueden tocar esa porque la vamos a poner en el segmento de ustedes a mitad de entrevista para publicarla”.
When we arrived at the station, we rehearsed a little more and waited for them to come looking for us. When one of the guys saw us with a guitar, he asked us what we wanted to sing, and we answered "Merida" in unison. To which the guy replied, "You can't play that one because we'll put it in your segment mid-interview to publish it."
Estabamos a segundos de entrar y debíamos tocar otra cosa. No habíamos ensayado otra cosa. PERO. Por suerte yo era el guitarrista de la banda y la vocalista se sabía sus letras. A ultimo segundo decidimos tocar unas de las mas escuchadas en spotify: La vida es un tanto cruel.
We were seconds away from going in and we had to play something else. We hadn't rehearsed anything else. BUT. Luckily, I was the band's guitarist, and the vocalist knew her lyrics. At the last second, we decided to play one of the most-played songs on Spotify: Life Is a Bit Cruel.
Lo demás en historia. La entrevista estuvo cool y creo que la canción salió bien.
The rest is history. The interview was cool, and I think the song came out well.
