“Deep River Blues” on Electric Guitar??? In “Danaidh B Style???”

(Edited)

Hey folks it’s “Danaidh B” or “Danny B” All the way From Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿!

For all of those who are pronouncing the silent ‘dh’ ((@jasperdick)) 😇😂🙏 it’s simply Danny from (Daniel).
‘Danaidh’ is the Scottish Gaelic spelling with an almost silent ‘Dh’ if not spoken in Scottish Gaelic.. just to clear that up 🙏😋

It’s good to be back on @hive (after 3 years) been back for a couple for weeks almost and I have been having some great responses!
I’m loving everyone’s feedback and support and nice comments about my music and photography etc..

And to come from trying to “monetise a YouTube channel recently to posting on @hive” is like ‘going from a scrappy old banger asking someone for the time drinking cheap vodka’ to ‘riding in a luxury Rolls Royce with Rolex watches and champagne!! 😂😂😂’ it’s awesome here!
YouTube is so judgy and immature sometimes, and it takes a lot of work to make a few £$€ here n there.. it’s a drag 😒

This one is for my new @hivefriend in Capetown South Africa who picked my song for his cover request contest, so here’s a treat for you dude!! Enjoy..

Just to mention I f***in’ love South Africans! I have had a good few friends who came from there and you are all so friendly, funny and fervently cool!!

Here is my interpretation of ‘Deep River Blues’ played in E on “Old Nicky” here, ((the fender I got for my 17th birthday!! I’m Now 30!)) I am playing on the electric today because I broke a string on my nylon string!

Have fun folks!!

Hahaha! Wow! That was truly amazing and inspiring!

I think I have a similar Fender Squire under the bed that doesn't get enough love because I tend to specialize in acoustic guitar! Perhaps it needs some new strings and an amp... ah, gee - money!!!

Thanks dude! 👊🏼
Haha yeh these old squiers are not bad actually, it’s really done me proud, but I feel she is getting bit weak on the high E past the 14th fret.
You should totally bring it out for a session dude!! Let’s hear it!!

Okay so just Danny B! One of my favourite colleagues was from Scotland - she is bonkers! Are you all as crazy?

Apparently some of my ancestors came to South Africa escaping the potato famines from Scotland and Ireland actually...

Anyway, you're amazing and unique! I think you should also start a cover request challenge!!

Yeh bro just Danny is fine tho 👍 I use the spelling to feel like I’m keeping in touch with some of my heritage haha! It’s a cool spelling too! ((yeah we’re all pretty crazy at times)) 😂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

That’s cool man yeah there were a lot of people who left and travelled around after that I imagine!

And what a cool place to meet, we may even be related/connected in some way if you came from Scotland? My family traces back to 1600’s Dundee, and probably much further back as well!

Thanks bro! Yeah I should start some kind of contest thing, that’d be fun. See what engagement I get

Thanks man, yeah I broke a string on my nylon so this is the only other decent thing I have to plug in for vids at the moment. Sound mad with this tune haha

I have a cover request for ya ... Blackwaterside, Bert Jansch was doing it on the folk revival scene, it suits your style and should be in your repertoire, you've already got the finger-picking dexterity for Bert Jansch stuff.

Donal Clancy has an excellent version of it too, pretty sure this one's open G tuning like Paul Bradys stuff buts its capoed , pretty sure you can get it from listening to these 2 versions.

Its a beautiful piece of folk music , as long as your keeping these old tunes alive might as well check out some Bert Jansch.
