Meechy Darko postponed "A Tour Named Gothika" in the USA in favor of touring Europe with Joey Bada$$
It looks like I won't be going to see Meechy Darko perform his debut solo album Gothic Luxury after all.

Myself and many other American fans of the Flatbush, NY rapper Meechy Darko were met with major disappointments recently. He had made a promise to make nearly 30 stops across the states here in North America for his "A Tour Named Gothika" to celebrate the release of Gothic Luxury.
I haven't been to a rap concert since college about 10 years ago, but this was a show that I didn't want to miss. Meechy is the most underrated rapper to exist right now and his bars & energy were things I desired to experience in person.
I purchased a ticket for the show in Asheville, NC on NOV 18. I even made a reservation at my favorite hostel downtown. This was supposed to happen next Friday and I was getting sort of excited about it, despite the fact that it has now been a couple of months since the album's release.
All of that is out the window now though, because Meechy Darko revealed the sad news that he is canceling all but a couple of shows for his tour.
I first received an email from the ticket company and was shocked to learn this info from them before Meechy released his public statement. I accepted my fate right away and didn't get upset that I wasn't going to get to see this legendary lyricist do his thing at The Orange Peel in downtown Asheville.

Finally, we received official confirmation from Meechy himself. He didn't sugarcoat it one bit. He decided to bail on all of his fans in the USA in favor of a tour over in Europe with fellow Brooklyn native Joey Bada$$. It sucks to receive news like this, but if it helps more people understand the glory of Meechy's music, then so be it.

Despite getting shafted by the guy, his music is still undeniably top-tier. I mean, if you still haven't listened to Gothic Luxury, you seriously need to give it a chance. I haven't listened to a rap album from start to finish so many times since I was a teenager.
I love every single song, but if I had to pick a favorite it would probably be

He claims that this is just a postponed tour and he will eventually make it happen in 2023. Hard to say if that's actually the case though. I'm not sure I would buy tickets again. I think I mainly did it a few months back because I was so hyped about the new album at the time.
Refund incoming 💸🙋🏻♂️
At least things are being made right. I am receiving a refund for my ticket instead of just having to wait it out until the next tour happens. Thankfully, I was also able to cancel my hostel reservations without losing any money. I'm glad I didn't pay for it in advance for a slight discount as I did for my upcoming trip to Columbus, OH to see some NHL hockey in December.

Sometimes life surprises you and it's up to you to be able to handle that outcome. This isn't something that I consider to be life-altering, so missing out on an epic live show is just a small misstep for me.
Even though you flaked on your USA fans Meechy, I still love you and your music. This dude has done so much for the game, will it ever be fully appreciated?

I've never been to a Rap concert but although I'm not a big fan of that kind of music you could enjoy it
I've only been to a few rap concerts. My first was Wiz Khalifa and Yelawolf. Then Lil Wayne and Rick Ross. The only other show I went to was A$AP Rocky and Danny Brown. All were pretty cool, but nowhere near as fun as going to an EDM rave in my opinion.

It sounds like he just thinks that going over to Europe will be better for his solo career since he already has so many loyal fans in the USA.

It's very sad man🤣. Once I visited a local Rap concert. I didn't like rapping very much but when I was in the public and listening to rappers, it was something unexpected.The enviornment was full of energy and I started moving my body which normally don't do.After that my liking for rap increases.
Missing such a concert is painful😂.

It’s a let down, but luckily I’m easily cheered up by other things and have already moved on from it.
Live music is certainly quite an experience, all genres offer something different.
I really think you’ll love the album if you give it a chance. Try to listen from start to finish if you can.

It could have been a whole lot worse. At least I can still often to the album anytime I’d like to.
