As long as the song is good
Happy new week to you all!
I hope you're all doing good.
MUSIC
Music has been in existence from the beginning and remains a significant part of modern life, with rapid growth and innovation. Many times, I revisit old music on YouTube to relive those old songs, and when I compare them to what we have now, the difference is quite clear. Although people often rate older music as lyrically superior, I would also say that the quality of sound and visuals cannot be compared to what we have today. So let's say, they're balanced when you equate them with common factors.
What am I saying in essence? I'm not going to settle solely for current music trends nor exclusively for the past. I am a lover of both eras of music. Yes, that's me.
My playlist has always been a mix of old and new songs, without a special folder for them. I keep them unarranged, which gives a sweet feeling whenever one of my favorites plays unexpectedly.
Let me walk you through some of them:
- American Love by Quin Madi:
I came to love this song via its constant play on a DSTV channel. I made sure to add it to my playlist, and ever since then, I've been enjoying it whenever it plays. The song was released in 2023, and the songwriter wasn't known until this song. So you see, I don't just go for well-known artists; as long as the song is good, I'm good to go, not minding who sang it.
Lest I forget, I don't do gender bias when it comes to music; I'm a lover of all.
- Strength Of A Woman by Shaggy:
This is one song I play very often because the lyrics are profound, and it reminds me a lot of the good old days when I was growing up. Although I don't listen to much foreign music, I have a small collection that is dear to my heart. I can't remember the exact year this Shaggy song was released (I didn't research it), but I was quite young when we played it on VCD. This song actually made me a fan of Shaggy, though I don't know if he's still singing....I haven't been checking.
- Dorobucci by Mavins:
This song was a hit when it was released in 2014, and it gave a special feeling to see good songwriters team up to make a track. In case you don't know, this song was done by Don Jazzy, Reekado Banks, Dr. Sid, Tiwa Savage, Di'ja, and Korede Bello.
As you can see, my playlist is a mixture of all types of songs that are soothing to me.
I have some native songs in my playlist too which I play anytime I want to feel home.
Also, I'm restructuring my mind to go for deep foreign songs...I means songs that I don't hear or understand the lyrics, such as Indian songs. Lol 😆.
Thanks!
