Three Tunes Tuesday: My Favorite Tracks from NIKI’s Nicole Album

I finally saw NIKI live here in Manila last February 12! I still can't believe it happend, it's a dream come true!! 😭😭 I'll share all about it in my next blog. She sounds amazing on Spotify and YouTube but hearing her live is a whole different level. She's even better in person 🫶🏼💓
First off, if you don't know NIKI...why? 😂 Nicole Zefanya (known as NIKI) is an Indonesian singer-songwriter who even opened for Taylor Swift's concert in Jakarta back in 2014. She's been writing great songs since she was young.
For today's TTT, I'll share some of my favorite songs from her Nicole album which was released last 2022.
🎶 Keeping Tabs
You are the worst thing that I'm still
Keeping tabs on for some stupid reason
You were just being nice
Now I fully believe you're out there somewhere also
Keeping tabs on how I might be feeling
This song reminds me of my college bestie, Dawn because it's one of her favorite NIKI songs. Keeping tabs is about that longing feeling, the in denial stage, pretending you've moved on. It was so well-written!
🎶 Backburner
Maybe life's less romantic when I don't wanna die
You'd think I'd be a fast learner
But guess I won't ever mind crisping up on your backburner
A lot of Filipino NIKI fans refer to themselves as a backburner 😂 Filipino NIKI fans love this one and some even joke that the Philippines is the Backburner Capital 😂 When it comes to relationships, backburner means someone who's not a priority. This song hits hard and it's brutally honest. It would make you feel you matter in some ways but never the priority 😂🫠 I also love how Niki put lots of metaphors in this song. Can you spot one?

I must've thanked my lucky stars too much

This song is one of my favorites in the Nicole album. I used to play it on repeat when I was heartbroken in 2022. This song doesn't have a chorus, it just keeps building and you'll feel the intensity in every line. I've heard this live last February 12 and it almost had me in tears. I still need to go through all my concert videos, but I'll be sharing more about it in my next post!

Oh, her music sound good, and it's actually my first time hearing about her. First song has that lively beat, I like it. And her lyrics, whoa, he is a great lyricist too. And number one's my favorite na agad uwu.

I've recently discovered some solo Korean artists, but not really doing a deep-dive into it. Kim Yeon Woo, Park Ki Young, Huh Gak are examples. Marami palang magagaling so happy ako. Music transcends language is really a thing. 🎼
