Clubbing Zone

HIVE never ceases to amaze me. I'm always discovering new things, even though they've been around for a while. I found out about this community, where I see the possibility of broadening my horizons by taking part in the #FunkyFrameFriday initiative, organized by the @hive-143104 community with the tireless @powerpaul.

It's an area that means a lot to me. From 2011 to 2020 (at the time of the pandemic) I worked as a Video Joker (VJ). It was something I enjoyed doing, sequencing images (still and moving) to put them into context with the sound provided by the DJs. It was a bit of work, because I didn't want to repeat myself in the images, I was always making new content, and I always had to know about the DJ who was going to accompany me in the booth.

I started out in a nightclub (The Theatrix), which became a reference in the clubbing scene in Coimbra, but I had several extra gigs. In other clubs, at institutional New Year's Eve parties and, at the very top, at the Azurara Beach Party (24 hours of electronic music) with the best DJs in the world.

With the mandatory stop due to the pandemic, I've been thinking a lot about continuing in the nightlife business. Age has taken its toll and money isn't everything (I worked 4 nights a week and earned €75 a night. Which in Portugal is good). The demands of the job, the changing schedules and the impossibility of not being able to devote myself to photography made me choose to slow down and give up the VJ job. My “war” name was VJ 11, because it was in 2011 that I started working with 11 video projectors at the same time. As well as being born on the 11th 😄

I intend to share some of my sets in this community. Until then, I'll leave you with two images of a DJ friend of mine, Alex G. He's very popular when it comes to House and Techno music. The styles of music I'd most like to work with.

For me, Web 3.0 only makes sense if it is collaborative and lives for the community, not just the individual. Only in community does it prosper in a transparent way. It's with this in mind that I'm going to start using a banner at the end of my posts promoting initiatives that aim to benefit the HIVE ecosystem.

I'm starting with the expansion of the (new) “Banner for Boost” campaign by @CryptoCompany and @PowerPaul.
