Most things are made in China so I guess getting a brand is your only option as far as looking for some type of quality. Never done running to music before and tend to concentrate more of my surroundings living where we do.

well where I live is noisy because it is a huge city. They try to make the parks quiet but there is always someone or something screwing that up. The music motivates me or blocks out unwanted urban noise for the most part.
