Trivium is an American heavy metal band from Orlando, Florida. The band was formed in 1999 by guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy, drummer Travis Smith, and bassist Brent Young. Trivium's early sound was a mix of thrash metal and melodic death metal, but they have since evolved to incorporate elements of power metal, groove metal, and even hard rock into their music.

Fact 1 - Trivium's name comes from a Latin word meaning "the place where three roads meet." The band chose this name because they felt it reflected their diverse musical influences and the fact that they were three friends coming together to create music.

Trivium has released nine studio albums to date, beginning with their 2004 debut "Ember to Inferno" and most recently with "What the Dead Men Say" in 2020. The band has been praised for their technical proficiency and Heafy's powerful vocals, and they have built a strong following through their energetic live performances.

Fact 2 - Trivium's debut album, "Ember to Inferno," was released in 2003 on Lifeforce Records. The album was produced by Jason Suecof, who has also worked with bands such as All That Remains and Deicide.

In addition to Heafy, Smith, and Young, Trivium's lineup has included several other musicians over the years, including guitarist Corey Beaulieu and bassist Paolo Gregoletto. The band has gone through a number of lineup changes, but Heafy and Smith have remained constants, and the current lineup also includes drummer Alex Bent and bassist Paolo Gregoletto.

Fact 3 - Trivium's second album, "Ascendancy," was released in 2005 and was a major commercial and critical success. The album reached No. 151 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified gold in the UK.

Trivium has toured internationally and played at major festivals such as Download and Rock on the Range. They have also supported well-known bands such as Iron Maiden and Metallica.

Fact 4 - In addition to his work with Trivium, Matt Heafy has also released solo music under the name "MTN." He has released two solo EPs, "Ki" and "Ki:Theory," which showcase his acoustic guitar skills and more introspective lyrics.
