Concert-lecture Концерт-лекція [En-Ukr]

Hi friends! I'm from Ukraine. A wonderful volunteer project - "The Power of History" is being implemented in my city. For the second year in a row, tours of the city are being held as part of the project. The best archaeologists, historians, naturalists, scientists, writers, musicians, composers are involved in this. The goal of the project is to popularize the history of the native city and help the armed forces of Ukraine.

Привіт, друзі! Я з України. У моєму місті реалізується чудовий волонтерський проект - "Сила історії". Вже другий рік поспіль в рамках проекту проводяться екскурсії містом. До цього залучені найкращі археологи, історики, природознавці, науковці, письменники, музиканти, композитори. Мета проекту - популяризація історії рідного міста та допомога збройним силам України.

Last week I attended the concert-lecture "History of Trumpets and Keyboards". A very interesting format, when stories about musical instruments and composers are told, and then illustrated by the performance of musical works.

Минулого тижня я побувала на концерті-лекції «Історія труб та клавіш». Дуже цікавий формат, коли розповідають історії про музичні інструменти та композиторів, а потім ілюструють це виконанням музичних творів. 

So I, maybe for the first time in my life, saw and heard a bassoon. Quite an interesting musical instrument. And what became a big discovery is that this whole construction cannot sound without one small detail. And this part is made of specially grown reed and must be in water before playing. A young slender girl, a bassoonist, who studies both in Ukraine and in Estonia, performed in front of us. And she just demonstrated that a dry part does not make any sound and told other interesting facts about her musical instrument.

Так я, може і вперше в житті, побачила і почула фагот. Досить цікавий музичний інструмент. І що стало великим відкриттям, що вся ця конструкція не може звучати без однієї маленької деталі. А ця деталь зроблена із спеціально вирощеного очерету і має побути у воді, перед тим, як грати. Перед нами виступала молода струнка дівчина, фаготистка, яка навчається і в Україні, і в Естонії. І вона якраз і продемонструвала, що суха деталь не видає жодного звуку та розповіла інші цікаві факти про свій музичний інструмент. 

The concert featured both Ukrainian and foreign compositions. Here are some of them.

На концерті звучали як українські композиції, так і зарубіжні. Ось деякі з них.

The event took place in one of the city's children's music schools. I always dreamed of getting inside. Unfortunately, I did not attend a music school as a child, but I often dreamed about it. I wanted to learn to play the piano. Friends who studied at a music school in childhood usually spoke negatively about her. It was difficult for them to combine studying at school, the kidnappers at the music school were demanding, they were disappointed that they could not play what they wanted, and some were simply forced by their parents. I had a fantasy that learning music is simply wonderful. A big role in this was played by one of the favorite childhood films - "Heart of Summer" in the Ukrainian translation or "Raise Your Voice" in English. Hilary Duff, a very popular actress at the time, played the lead role. I looked with admiration at the fact that American teenagers have the opportunity to study at a music school in the summer and dreamed that it would be the same in Ukraine.

Захід відбувався в одній з дитячих музичних шкіл міста. Я завжди мріяла потрапити всередину. На жаль, в дитинстві я не відвідувала музичну школу, але часто мріяла про це. Хотілося навчитися грати на фортепіано. Подруги, які в дитинстві навчалися в музичній школі, зазвичай, негативно про неї говорили. Їм було важко поєднувати навчання в школі, викрадачі в музичній школі були вимогливими, їх розчаровувало те, що не можна грати те, що хочеться, а деяких просто змушували батьки. У мене ж була фантазія, що навчатися музиці - це просто прекрасно. Велику роль в цьому зіграв один з улюблених в дитинстві фільмів - "Серце літа" в українському перекладі або "Raise Your Voice" на англійській. В головній ролі дуже популярна акторка на той час - Хіларі Дафф. Я з захопленням дивилася на те, що американські підлітки мають можливість влітку навчатися в музичному училищі і мріяла, щоб таке було і в Україні. 

So being on an excursion at this children's music school was a pleasure for me. By the way, this is one of the old buildings in the city, the spirit of history lives in it. It was decided to establish the school back in 1923, and it functioned for sure in 1935, although not in this building, which is in the photo. Now the school bears the name of the outstanding Ukrainian composer Mykola Lysenko.

Тож перебування на екскурсії в цій дитячій музичній школі було для мене приємним. До речі, це одна зі старих будівель в місті, в ній живе дух історії. Школу вирішено заснувати ще 1923 року, а точно функціонувала вона в 1935 році, правда не в цій будівлі, що на фото. Зараз школа носить ім'я видатного українського композитора Миколи Лисенка.
