Sp'alloween 2023
Hi there! Have you seen these symbols before? And with that out the way, Music Well, you know where. If you don't know where, let me know. I'll try to let you know though, as well. Since you're reading this and I only sent the link to my friends, you probably know where the venue is. I'm pretty sure everyone who's coming knows where to go. However, if you don't, or you need the specific address, please tell me and I'll get in touch! I just don't want to broadcast it over the entire internet... Since the venue is essentially a half-finished construction site, I need to know if you want to camp there with us or if you're planning to stay at the Hotel. There's plenty of room at the place. If you want to camp, let me know. If the Hotel is for you, either call now and book a room yourself, or let me know real soon so I can book one on your behalf. I'll try to ring around and see what everyone's thinking very soon! As for camping, it's pretty much BYO sleeping gear. We'll provide space, privacy, food, drinks, music and good company! We will probably end up at The Hotel at some point, but there is also a dancefloor and sound system back at the venue. Your hosts, On the Saturday: you're welcome to come whenever, but we're aiming to have everything ready by about 3PM, which is when we'll eat. So, a cruisey late lunch with a few drinks from about 3PM onwards: A few hours later and it'll be time to break out the costumes as dusk approaches, which is when the music starts and the night gets real spooky On the Sunday: Cooked breakfast Sunday sesh back at the venue, recovery and chill Yes. The only real reason that this is a "Halloween Party" is to use as an excuse to make it a costume party! I'm not planning on going 'trick or treating' or anything like that, though I guess it's an option, however the central idea is to wear a costume Since most of us will be travelling some way to get there, we will have a couple places where costumes can be donned in private. Changerooms! Could be potentially easier than traveling all that way in your costume, just change when you get here! It's an option, anyway. If you are ♀️ you can dress up as a character that is ♂️ if you are ♂️ you can dress up as a character that is ♀️ You know what a character is! Think proper nouns: People's names. Characters. Personalities. Identities. Real or fictional, human or animal, it does not matter just as long as their gender is clear. Sonic the Hedgehog or Lola Bunny? Of course! Your costume character can come from any source. You could be a movie star, a musician, a character from a cartoon, video game, comic book, movie or TV show, a celebrity or historical figure, a character from your favourite book, or anyone at all. Really! As long as they are a clear, individual identity, and they are the opposite gender to you. An example for each of those in order, would be: Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Marge Simpson, Super Mario, Harley Quinn, Crocodile Dundee, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Gordan Ramsey, Cleopatra, Alice in Wonderland... Occupational uniforms or archetypes traditionally associated with one gender or another, but which in reality are non-gendered. Things like: nurse, firefighter, boxer, ballet dancer, fairy, dragon, angel, devil — while all being straightforward costumes — aren't strictly gendered. On the other hand, an individual personality does have some definite, discrete gender — or at least the expression of one. A job or fictional archetype doesn't. However, having said all of that, if you did want to go as a boxer you could go as Rocky Balboa, but only if you are ♀️ as Rocky is ♂️ and likewise if you were ♂️ you could go as Tinkerbell the fairy, who is ♀️ The other caveat is that you can't dress up as someone that is famous for cross-dressing! So no RuPaul's, or Dame Edna Everage's. Sorry gals, you're not invited to this party — that would be like wrapping back around to just dressing up as your own gender! We want opposites only folks — because it's the 2020s, or something! But look, in truth, we just want everyone to come along and have some fun so the costume theme is more like a costume suggestion. You can dress any way you like. Costume, no costume, spooky, non-spooky, gendy, non-gendy — it literally does not matter! It's all for a laugh at the end of the day. If you have a spooky mask, feel free to bring it along! Do remember that some form of clothing is mandatory! Please do wear clothes! I'm late getting this out, IF YOU HAVE ANY SPOOKY DECORATIONS YOU'D LIKE TO BRING ALONG PLEASE DO, WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM! So here it is: Come for one or more!
Sure you have! And I know you know how they're used;
but just in case you need a quick reference:
