Three Tune Tuesday - New Year's Eve edition

HappyNewYear2022_ThreeTuneTuesday.jpgPuerta del Sol, Madrid - December 2019

Hello Hivers and music lovers!

I was taking a look at the posts in my feed and thanks to my friend @tengolotodo I realized that it's Tuesday and the last of this year. By the way Super Ed, I'm looking forward to the chocolates Santa Scotsman has offered me. 🧑🎄😆😉

I'm grateful to be able to say goodbye to 2022, was a rather difficult year for me in many ways, but it's not time to take stock of the year but to share music with my #threetunetuesday friends.

And since we're about to say goodbye to the year, I'm going to share some songs I like to listen to on New Year's Eve.

But before we get into the tunes. If you are not familiar with #threetunetuesday, let me give a little background in the words of @ablaze, who started the initiative

The jist is as follows
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #ttt or #threetunetuesday tags that would be great. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize - more on that later.

You can find out more at ablaze's post for this a couple of Tuesdays ago with his recommendations for week #81, this is #83 since the #ttt began.

So without further ado, my recommendations for today.

Tune 1 - Mecano - Un año más

I have previously mentioned in the #ttt the Spanish band Mecano that was very popular in the late 80s and early 90s. I loved them. And they had a song to say goodbye to the year, called Un Año Más.

The song that talks about how the Spaniards say goodbye to the year inspired me to use in this article the photo of the Puerta del Sol, an emblematic square to say goodbye to the year in Madrid.

Tune 2 - Camilo - 5 pa las 12

This song is like a slide projector of New Year's Eve memories from when I was a child. When it was 5 o'clock to 12 o'clock, in my house, this song was always played. 5 pa las 12 is an old Venezuelan song, and its author was called Nestor Zavarce. But to share, I have opted for a newer cover of the song by the Colombian singer and songwriter Camilo.

Every year, this song brings a few tears to my eyes when it's midnight on New Years' Eve. It fills me with nostalgia and Saudade for those who are no longer here.

Tune 3 - Maracaibo 15 - Viejo Año

And since we're getting nostalgic, I'm better to make a twist to a happier song and share a traditional gaita to say goodbye to the year. The gaitas is a traditional rhythm from Maracaibo, the city where my husband is from. Although, he doesn't like gaitas 🤣

This is a very well-known one called Viejo Año by the band Maracaibo 15.

This is all for today. Have a Happy New Year, hivers!

Thank you very much for reading!

Enjoy the music, and enjoy life!

Madrid is a lot of fun on New Year's Eve but I really avoid Puerta del Sol, too many people.

All thanks to you, I was able to understand the songs clearly and I love the rhythm of them all.

This year has been a rollercoaster one just like I used to say. We have lost many and we are still alive. Though we miss them but we keep going on to being the best.
Very soon, we would be saying Goodbye to year 2022 while we enter into a new year. Happy new year in advance 😍😍

Aw, same here, listening to a song sometimes brings tears to my eyes because those memories suddenly brought back 😬.

Listening 🎧 to these songs reminds me what I told Kuya Ed last time that I should learn Spanish language as it sounds so cool, isn't it?

Hehe both you and Kuya Ed love lively music, now I was wondering what you two are in the same place? Then would start playing music? 😁

I'm very weepy with some songs, especially on new year's eve.

You guys use some Spanish words, right? so I guess it shouldn't be that hard to learn.

Hehe! that would be so much fun, and you would be invited to join that band, lol What do you think Super Ed @tengolotodo?

There are some place here that uses Spanish words but not in my place or maybe I was using too some few terms. So I just know a few.

Oh I love that, and imagine myself tapping my feet and slowly banging my head while listening to the music.. haha

Love Camilo - 5 pa las 12. Beautiful to the max.

Keeping it saved. Thanks for sharing. I've also literally just decided to learn Spanish sitting here listening to this. Done. My thing for 2023. 👍

Just seen I'm not following you yet? How is this eve possible after all our chats on here? Sorted out now. Geesh I suck at the admin and logistics...

The gaitas is a complicated rhythm to my uneducated ear. 👀

Do people dance to this?

Great if you learn Spanish, there is a lot of beautiful music sung in Spanish, and it is a fun way to learn a language. I have learned a little Portuguese by listening to music.

Oh gosh. I'm not following you either. I can't believe it but I will sort it out right away.

The gaitas is a complicated rhythm even to us, hehe. But yes, we dance with gaitas, especially at this time of the year.

Oh wow. What style of dancing please?

Can you add a link here please? :D

Yes. Adding Spanish to homeschooling this year! I've always wanted to learn it but was busy with French and that was never completed to fluent so...

But it seems Spanish will be more useful now. So let's see how it goes. I'll try to surprise you :)

Happy we figured it out and are properly connected now. 😆❤️

Mecano - Un año más -- Really enjoyed this one especially. It reminds me of some 80s Power balad that I cannot quite place, really good vibe to it though and her voice is beautiful.

Every year, this song brings a few tears to my eyes when it's midnight on New Years' Eve. It fills me with nostalgia and Saudade for those who are no longer here.

God bless them all. A lovely tradition with this song to remember those who have passed.

Maracaibo 15 - Viejo Año -- this one makes me want to get up and dance!!
