Hello, Hivers and Music lovers!

It’s still Tuesday in my corner of the world, so I’m still in time to share some tunes for this #threetunetuesday.

The inspiration for today’s post came to me over the weekend while having breakfast with my husband at a local diner. The music playing in the background was Juan Luis Guerra, and at that moment, my husband and I commented about his musical genius. His songs have been a constant companion to me since I was young. I’ve danced to his merengues countless times, and I’ve listened to his ballads and bachatas over and over again. And then I thought how is it possible that in all this time I haven't dedicated a post to him for #ttt. But that's going to change today.

For those unfamiliar with Juan Luis Guerra, he’s a Dominican musician, singer-songwriter, and music producer. He’s one of the most prominent figures in Latin American music. Throughout his musical career, which began in the mid-1980s and continues to this day, he’s won numerous awards and recognitions.

With his songs, Juan Luis Guerra has elevated Dominican bachata and merengue to new heights.

But before I get into the tunes, let me give you a little background if you are new to Hive and aren't familiar with #threetunetuesday. In the words of @ablaze who initiate it:

The jist is as follows
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize - more on that later.

You can find out more at ablaze's post with his recommendations for this week the #191.

Don't forget to support @ablaze's and if you would like to become a sponsor of #ttt give him a shout out.

And now without further ado, let's go with my tunes for this week.

Tune 1 - Juan Luis Guerra - Muchachita Linda

The first song is a bachata. It is the song that was playing on the weekend at the place where we were having breakfast.

Muchachita Linda is a song that Juan Luis Guerra wrote for his daughter. It may not be as famous as some of his other bachatas like 'Bachata Rosa' which was a hit in the 90s or 'Bachata en Fukuoka', but this one is also beautiful. The song was released in 2014.

Tune 2 - Juan Luis Guerra - La Travesia

This second song is a merengue. La Travesia is from the album La Llave de Mi Corazón. It was released in 2007. And don't tell me it doesn't make you want to dance to it.

Tune 3 - Juan Luis Guerra - La Cosquillita

And if the previous song didn't get you dancing, now put on your dancing shoes to dance to this merengue from 1994. La Cosquillita is from the album Fogaraté!.

In this song Juan Luis Guerra rescues folkloric rhythms of his country the Dominican Republic in a merengue trancao of a genre called perico ripiao.

Bonus Tune - Juan Luis Guerra - El Costo de la Vida

During his musical career Juan Luis Guerra has written many songs of social and political criticism.

El Costo de la Vida from 1992 is one of those songs. Its lyrics speak of the reality of Latin American countries, the problems that afflict us as the cost of living, crime and corruption. The incredible thing is that this song three decades later is as relevant as it was then.

Have you ever listened to Juan Luis Guerra before?
If you liked the songs, which one did you like the most? Tell me in the comments.

Thank you very much for reading!

Hi Eli, I enjoyed the second song and you're right it gets the feet tapping! But, the bonus song did the same despite its message - (I googled the lyrics in English)
The video is brilliant!
Have a wonderful Wednesday 💕
