Los Fabulosos Cadillacs for this #ttt

Happy Tuesday! It's hard to believe we're on the second to last Tuesday of this year. But yes, there are only two Tuesdays left in the year 2023, so let's share some music.

These days with my son at home we have been going back and forth to run errands. Yesterday, I took him to the dentist, to get a haircut and that means we have spent a lot of time in the car listening to music. I love to know what music he listens to these days and my son has been the inspiration for a lot of my #ttt. These days I've realized how his musical tastes have evolved and although we don't share all tastes, we do share many, and I've been pleasantly surprised to find myself listening to Los Fabulosos Cadillacs with him.

Los Fabulosos Cadillacs is an Argentine rock band that emerged in the late 80s but had its most famous decade in the 90s. The band after some years of separation is still playing nowadays, but their most iconic songs were some of the 90s.

Their music fuses several musical genres, but mostly ska and reggae.

But before I get into the tunes, let me give you a little background for those of you who aren't familiar with #threetunetuesday. In the words of @ablaze, who started the initiative.

Tune 1 - Los Fabulosos Cadillacs - Vasos Vacíos

This song from the late 80's is a collaboration between the Argentine band and the incomparable Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz. Years later it would also be included in the band's compilation album released in 1993 that catapulted them to worldwide fame. In fact, the album was named after this song.

Vasos Vacíos is my favorite song by Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, I love its rhythm and it is one of those songs that whenever I hear it reminds me of good times in my life so I was pleased to find it in my son's playlist.

Tune 2 - Los Fabulosos Cadillacs - Matador

Matador was one of the two songs that were unreleased on that compilation album called Vasos Vacíos that they released in 1993 and that catapulted Los Fabulosos Cadillacs' musical career in the Latin American rock scene.

Matador was very popular in the 90s and is considered by many as one of the most representative songs of Latin American rock.

Tune 3 - Los Fabulosos Cadillacs - Manuel Santillán, el León

Manuel Santillán, el León is one of my son's favorite songs by Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. The song is from the 1992 album El León. It is said to be about a student guy protesting during the Videla dictatorship in Argentina.
