I'm still around

avatar

I can't believe I haven't written a post at Hive for 40 days, but I think it's time to end this "quarantine". In three years, I haven't spent so much time away from Hive but it was a necessary break. I needed it. I needed to sort out my thoughts and emotions in order to be able to write with peace of mind. The last few weeks have been intense.

The situation of the country on the one hand. The uncertainty, the sadness and the fear because the truth is that we live with a latent fear, which is there silently and to which unfortunately as to so many other things we will end up getting used to. On the other hand, at home there have been some changes, positive yes, but important changes that bring with them anxiety. To make a long story short, my husband was presented with a good opportunity for a temporary job out of town. He's already there and I'll soon follow. But this unexpected temporary move has me upside down doing a thousand things that I don't want to leave up in the air before I leave home for a while. And I have a lot of mixed emotions.

But despite the hustle and bustle I'm still trying to take the best possible care of my health. To take my walks in the mountains whenever the opportunity arises. Now that my husband is away, I always go with a friend. So I break the silence of the last few weeks and try to get back into the rhythm on Hive by sharing some images of one of those hikes I have taken in the last few days.

A hike, one of those afternoons in Caracas with a beautiful light as the sunset was approaching. My friend L and her faithful companion Choco at the viewpoint of the reserve known as La Fila, contemplating the view.

LaFila1_Sep2024.jpg

The view that always fills me with energy. Clouds or no clouds. Any time of the day. Believe me this view is infallible to recharge your batteries when you feel that your world is a little upside down. Seeing those mountains and taking a deep breath brings you back to serenity.

LaFila2_Sep2024.jpg

From there, the valley of Caracas always looks imposing with that beautiful mountain that surrounds us. My loved mountain, El Avila.

LaFila3_Sep2024.jpg

The privilege of having this view a few steps from home is not just anything. Definitely something I will miss in a few weeks.

LaFila4_Sep2024.jpg

These walks are one of my favorite things to do for exercise and I'm sure Choco feels the same way.

LaFila5_Choco_Sep2024.jpg

LaFila6_Choco_Sep2024.jpg

So I'm still around and I hope to be around for a long time. And for sure, I will be telling you more about the imminent movements in my life in the next days.

Thank you for reading!

Sounds hectic! Hope teh move goes well. Those photos are stunning - what a view! I also like the composition of the first shot - the figure to the left and the framing is really moody. Love it. Take care.

Well looky looky who do we have here. Hello Hello Super Eli and so good to see you again querida. Yes when I get up in the morning, one of the first things that I do is check up on news about Venezuela and hope you are safe and well.
Choco is a wee cutie, do Choco and Milo meet ever?
Yeah a stressful time and I know you will embrace the new adventure and we shall keep in touch 💙

Hola querido!
The news from Venezuela is not very encouraging but it is what it is.
Choco is a cutie but don't saw him barking at the big dogs, at that moment he thinks he's the biggest bully, jaja. Milo and Choco haven't met, but they should. Maybe Milo will take Choco down a peg or two LOL.
Of course we'll keep in touch and there, I'll have more time to be in Hive, hehe 💙💙

Good to hear you are taking it easy. They are big adventures where we learn so much from.

So far it is. I had to travel a lot abroad lately, but I hope I can stay a bit more at home and settle now.

I am positive about the move and my husband's job. I am not positive in my thoughts with what is going on in the country but I can't change that but hope that things will change someday.

A big hug for you. I hope all is well and that you are enjoying the time with your family, dear Jane 🤗

I missed you a lot and I'm glad to read you again. Changes, even if they are positive, always bring with them inevitable stress. What happens to you is natural, but you do well to take that air from the Avila to retain it during the time you are away from it.

Above all, take good care of yourself, dear friend. A big hug. ❤️🤗

Thank you, dear Paloma! Although the change is positive it is not stress free and I have a scare in my stomach hehe but I think considering how things are here in the country, it is a very good opportunity for us.

Big hugs, amiga 🤗

I am very sorry for everything that is happening in your country and how badly you are living, such a beautiful country with many resources to live a life without surprises
That is good news without a doubt, although having to leave home for a while is not something that is appreciated, luckily you have these beautiful places to walk and balance your emotions
The view and the landscape that you have from above is really beautiful
Have a great day dear friend @coquicoin

Thank you @jlufer! Hopefully the country will see better times, but for now it is what it is. Leaving home is not comfortable but I'm not afraid of the adventure. I'm just a little stressed about the loved ones I'll leave at home, my cat Milo, my mom. Anyway, one day at a time and we'll see.
I hope you and yours are well. Un abrazo!

Hello sis, good to see you again. I'm sorry to hear about the worrying situation in your country but hope things will improve. Changes in our lives, no matter how positive they are can still bring some form of stress but we get through them anyway :) I pray the new town will bring you good tidings and great adventures. ❤️

Awwww... It's good to hear from you again @coquicoin friend!... Forty days gosh!... Well I'm glad you're okay, all of us here in Venezuela have had a little "more to bear" these last few days due to the increase in political tension, but it's not for nothing that we're "perseverance champions "... So here we go, always moving forward without faltering! ;)... I hope you're leaving everything ready to follow your husband and hear from you from where you'll be these weeks!!!... And as always: "Thank you for your beautiful photos of the Caracas' valley, I missed that!"... I send big hugs, my best wishes and blessings always for you and family!...

Good to have you back. It's normal to feel like this sometimes and it's best to take a break. You have done well.
I'm so glad your husband has that chance and that you will be able to join him soon. Everything is a challenge, you have to try to overcome them and stay sane (I say this to myself).

As for the walk to the mountain, wow, it's beautiful that scenery. It always captivates me so much.

Be well, we'll be waiting for you here.

That's right, when we are in the kind of mood of feeling like we don't understand what is going on, it's better to take a break.

Sometimes it's hard to keep the sanity but we try, right? hehe.

I hope you are very well. And that your mom is too.
Cheer up and come visit Caracas. It is overwhelming but it has lovely things like those beautiful mountains that surround it.

Un gran abrazo!

Hello, thank you. We are fine.
Of course I would like to go to Venezuela. It would be great to be able to share in person with very dear people, who I also admire and who I met here at Hive. I have also seen that your country is beautiful and that it has all kinds of landscapes.
Maybe one day this dream will come true.

Un gran abrazo de vuelta 😉

I'm happy to read you again, good thing I didn't miss your post. Wow, this month has been a month of much reflection for us Venezuelans, and I'm glad about that job offer outside the city, I'm sure that if they do it is because it's for the best. It was hard for me to keep up the streak of posts, especially at the end of July and the first week of August, but going to Colombia calmed me down a bit... I know we've barely crossed words, but it would be great if one day we had a coffee downtown, you are one of those Hive people that transmit beautiful things in your aura. Well, end of quarantine hahaha, welcome back.

I was supposed to read this yesterday but baby cried and I forgot about it 🤣.

A new environment for a while, that is good at the same time I was the one thinking what about your home 😆.

Who will take good care of your house and what about choco?

His or her? Got a smooth hair than mine! 😆

How is that beautiful baby growing up and how is the mother feeling hehe? I hope you are more adjusted to the routine and are enjoying motherhood :)

Choco is my friend's dog but I have to leave Milo, my cat, at home :( Fortunately my mother will stay with him in my house.

Hehe Choco's fur is beautiful, isn't it? LOL

So glad to see you here Eli, but I fully understand just how the situation in your country has a negative impact on your life.
That familiar view is so beautiful, it must be sad to leave it behind, even if it's only temporarily.
Thinking of you, while you prepare for the temporary move, and still having to deal with the turmoil happening in your country.
Don't forget to take care of yourself dear Eli❤️

So it is Lizzie, these are hard times for those of us who live here or have loved ones in Venezuela. Leaving is not easy and staying is not easy either. We will see what the future holds.
How have you been? I have to catch up with your blog.
A big hug 🤗💕

It's just awful that politicians can destroy a country without any regard for the well-being of the people, all in the name of power and money!
We've seen a mass exodus of skilled younger people from SA, very sad to leave family and friends behind; some flourish when they leave, but still long for 'home' while others simply cannot adapt, It's a very difficult situation!
I'm keeping well, and adjusting to this new life. Not easy though!
Take care Eli🙏💖

Sadly, that's how it is. And politics sucks. Venezuela has experienced massive waves of migration. I wonder what will become of the country in the future if things do not change. For example the young qualified doctors have almost all left the country. There is no replacement generation.
It is very sad to see families being separated in this way. But let's not lose hope that things can get better in the future here and there.

I can imagine that it is very difficult to adjust to your new life, Lizzie. But you are strong and you have people who need you.
Take care of yourself, happy Sunday💕🤗

Wow the views look amazing my friend. Great to have you back posting, but better still that you listened to your body and soul and took a necessary break. We all need that every once in a while for balance of mental and physical health.

Sounds like you have lots going on too, so mind yourself and try not to get over whelmed. I hope the temp job becomes permanent and everything works out great for ye ❤️

Wishing you well with the move, exploring somewhere new when we older can be daunting, hope it is a smooth transition, even if temporary.

Mountains walks you know so well always missed no matter how far or close one is, familiar with our surroundings that we come to love.

Thank you very much, Joan. Fortunately I've already been to that city/country although only for vacations though. But it's true, at this point the moves are a bit scary and moving away from the places and friends that are part of our daily life is not so easy.

I hope you and your family are well. Hugs!
