INVOCATION ON "O SACRED HEAD, NOW WOUNDED" - PHIL LEHENBAUER

Phil Lehenbauer wrote this meditative and introspective arrangement of the classic Lent and Holy Week hymn, "O Sacred Head, Now Wounded". The hymn's poignant text was originally written by Bernard of Clairvaux in the 12th century, and was later translated into German and set to music by Hans Leo Hassler. In the 19th century, it gained popularity and was translated into English by James Waddel Alexander. The invocation features the melancholic melody of "Herzlich Tut Mich Verlangen", played on the organ of St. Patrick's Albury. The score of this piece is available for instant download below.
