Ave Maria von Arcadelt - Liszt | Requiescat in pace, Pope Francis

In memory of Pope Francis (1936–2025), I offer this simple rendition of Franz Liszt's Ave Maria (after Arcadelt) on organ. Pope Francis was a man of humility and deep Marian devotion. His simple lifestyle and faith inspired millions across the world. I chose this work for its gentle, prayerful character and its deep connection to our Blessed Mother, a devotion close to his heart.

Though Franz Liszt is best known for his virtuosic compositions, this piece stands in contrast: meditative, restrained, and contemplative. It is in that spirit of simplicity that I dedicate this performance, echoing the humility that Pope Francis embodied throughout his papacy.
