The Legacy of Bob Marley

I personally as a person loves to explore and study People's life most especially the successful one so that I can be able to learn things that they did right and things they did wrong in order to apply it to ones life. If you are a music lover and most especially you grew up in Nigeria, you will be familiar with the popular name called Bob Marley. He is one of the most popular music icon in Nigeria. Virtually every t-shirt, trousers and many more carrys his picture and much more. For me personally, I see bob Marley beyond the musician he was but I saw him as an icon that creates a revolution.

Till now, I have not seen anyone match the legacy of Bob Marley. We need to be truthful with ourselves. Even though we have seen musicians that have arise that has penetrate the African soul but none like Bob Marley. He was a prophet. Some of the words he said when he was singing came to pass many years later. There are a whole lot of songs that are attributed to him. We have the examples like Get Up, Stand Up and many more. All these for us as Nigerians are beyond the song, the message in the lyrics carries so much power and revolution.

Like I said earlier, we have a lot of musicians out there both dead and still alive. But when it comes to Bob Marley, one of the things that really makes him to stand out is not generally the music he sang but the message in his song. There is just a way that Bob Marley songs connect you with your soul that makes it irresistible. So many of his Messages that are rooted in his song have been able to birth this spiritual consciousness and cultural heritage in us. For a whole lot of Nigerians, it has even helped them to reclaim their identity that was lost.

Just like some musicians, their song center on love, for some, it might be on parenting and many more. But one of the things I really notice about Bob Marley is the fact that his song always carries messages about love, unity and self identity. The era where Bob Marley was alive, there was so much of political unrest and division among tribes and clans. But with his song, he restore love and unity in the heart of men. His song always spread the voice of peace and tolerance.

Even though it has really been decades later that he has died. I will say his song are still very much alive in the heart of men, the way he continually sings back then still lies in the heart of men. In fact, a whole lot of people have pick his style to tailor their own musical careers. I might not know about other countries but in Nigeria, there are two major people that I personally know have tailored their music careers around Bob Marley own. We have examples like Majek Fashek and Ras Kimono. At the end of the day, his legacy still lives on in the heart of men and even in the music industry.

Man is a real legend. One of my Dad's all time favourite. My favorite song of his still remains Redemption song featuring the Wailers. He remains an inspiration to a lot of artists and people generally today.
