Show Music

Free Bird!!!!!!! Realized today that I hadn't heard anybody yell that at a concert since the Before Times. Covid must have put a hurting on the boomers... Was trying to come up a theme for this week's #ThreeTuneTuesday but kept drawing nothing but blanks.

I've always been rather fond of live music, that was probably the thing I missed most when covid came calling. Still salty they canceled the Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson show I had tickets to. Only recently got back to seeing shows, these songs are from some of those artists.

Used to, my favorite haunt here in Louisville was a dive bar called the Hideaway. Any night of the week you could wander in there and be pretty sure of finding live music. The quality of said music could vary considerably, as could the crowd. Hipsters and hippies, rednecks and outlaws, the occasional lost frat boy on a bar crawl, it could be an interesting and volatile mix, saw more than one person leave in an ambulance. Eventually the owner ran it into the ground and his son turned it into a video game bar and it's never been the same since. I mention this because the title track off the Drive-By Trucker's latest album, Welcome 2 Club XIII could have just as easily been about the old Hidey.

Had never heard of Justin Wells before I saw him open for Lucero, but that performance was hard to forget, gave Lucero a run for their money. Going Down Grinnin' is my plan so I had to share the tune with y'all.

Should've Learned By Now but I always forget how rowdy Lucero shows can get. Seen them play a couple times now and they can't seem to do a show here with getting baptized in beer. Sometimes it's a tossup whether the band or the crowd is more drunk but it's always one hell of a show.

It's too hot to edit photos, so these images are all made with MidJourney. Anyone else got a favorite dive bar or song about them?

I myself enjoy watching a live performance like this, it's great to go there and sing this song with energy and people are there appreciating it.

You and me both. Thank ya, DBT never disappoints although I'm still annoyed I never got to see them before they kicked Isbell out.
