Jammin' In The Bakker Barn
Had to get away from all the plot twists this past weekend, headed down to the sprawling metropolis of Nepton, Kentucky for a bit of a shindig. There's a tobacco barn there that I'm fond of photographing and Highly Likely, a jamgrass band out of Cincinnati, was putting on a show inside it Saturday evening.
Nepton isn't exactly the most densely populated area, the post office closed in 1958, but folks still came out to hear some music.
The music and the sound were great but the light inside the barn was terrible for photography. Still had to snap a few anyway.
Now could somebody please explain to me what jamgrass is? Or is that what the kids are calling the Grateful Dead these days?
Near as I could tell, it was highly likely that everybody had a good time. They played a couple sets and nobody called the law, it was great. Both us and the band spent the night on the farm, so after everybody left there was some fire and more music but there's no evidence of that.
Once everyone regained consciousness the next morning, we had some breakfast and wandered around the farm a bit before making our way back home.
Very nice that you enjoyed the event and even nicer that "nobody called the law" 😄
It does tend to make things more exciting but not necessarily in a good way 😅
Nice black and white. I really like the plank wall and light play.
Thanks. That light play is part of why I love tobacco barns so much, so fun to shoot.
The last picture where you all wondered around the farm is really nice
That’s my favorite
Thanks, that was about as fun as the concert :)
Sounds like a great time, despite the lighting challenges. The barn setting adds a unique touch nice one brother
I'd known in advance the light would be tricky, brought my lens that could go down to 1.8f but even with that it was kinda iffy. Thanks :)
Welcome brother, nice one
A bit of music and black and white moments. Nice captures !
Thanks! It was a good time for sure :)
Woot, thanks!
Thanks again!
Looks like a beautiful spot man, I love the oldschool tobacco barns that are still around. I've not been to one myself but have seen a few renovation shows and love them!
Indeed I reckon everyone had a great time!
Those old barns are something else. My family raised tobacco when I was growing up, at least until there wasn't any money left in it, so I got to work in and around them a bit. They have their own unique smell too.
I reckon so :D
