Morning Music Memories

IMG_2133.jpg

Today I was reading a post that brought back a fond memory of my youth growing up. It was one of those Three tune Tuesday posts by @bozz. He highlighted three older country songs. I remember fondly these coming from our small radio in the kitchen. The kitchen in the house where I spent most of my teenage years.

Every morning, my mother would wake for work and turn on the radio in the kitchen before she started making coffee and getting ready for work. I remember it being a local AM country station. At the time they would play the current and older country hits and Top 20 type songs.

I don't remember any specific converstations between my mother and I that stick out in my head, from those mornings in the kitchen, listening to the radio. But I do remember the small radio playing that AM country radio station. And I can still remember them enough to sing along when I hear them today.

The smell of coffee, the taste of the usual bowl of cornflakes and of course the radio, all seem sharp in my senses to this day. It is so odd and not sure I understand how senses like that could be so sensitive to a memory.

Yet I can't recall a single converstation from those mornings with my mother. I can only recall the collection of moments and not a specific one. However, my senses just peek at the thought of those collection of moments. Yes, odd to me indeed.

I am not sure now where I intended to go with this post when I started it. The squirrels in my head have been running circles all day. That said, the memories above have stayed with me throughout the day. Reflecting on it now, I wonder if I should have been more in the moment at that time.

Yes, I should have, but I didn't. However, that can't be changed and what I do have are still the collection of fond memories in the morning with my mother before work and school. There is the senses that seem to trigger as well that help make the memory that much more enjoyable.

How odd...

I know the feeling, the old train of thought runs away with you. It's great to remember time with your mother though, I still miss mine every day.

This morning my damn ears are ringing more than normal, it's driving me crazy... All the joys of having served our country! lol

Yeah, I have to sleep with a fan, even in the winter. It helps drown out the ringing and buzzing shit.
