HIVE OPEN MIC WEEK 261// 5 SECONDS IF SUMMER FT JUICE WRLD OLD ME ( COVER)
Hello everyone, hope everybody's good. My name is @coderaikiri and welcome to another week in hive Open mic. For the 261st edition, I'll be presenting a song by 5 seconds of summer ft juice wrld titled old me.
Old me was released in 2021 as a single by the boy band known as 5 seconds of summer. The song is a complete representation to the theme of the week which is reborn . The song expresses greetings and salutations to previous versions of themselves who overcame tribulations of life and still persevered despite being naive. However their old self was going to stay where it belongs- in the past as they intend to shape their life so as not to repeat some of the mistakes made in the past thus being completely reborn.
The part where they said " devil at door, got me knocking knocking knocking on the other side. Ashes on the floor but am walking walking walking outta here alive" just hits differently.
This song is a total banger and honestly doesn't receive the kind of recognition it deserves.
I hope you all take your time, listen, enjoy and get to understand what it feels like letting go of the old you. Thank you.
LYRICS
[Intro: Luke]
Shout out to the old me and everything you showed me
Glad you didn't listen when the world was trying to slow me
No one could control me, left my lovers lonely
Had to fuck it up before I really got to know me
[Verse 1: Luke]
Never a night alone, anywhere you wanna go
Woke up in the mornin' wearin' someone else's clothes
Pictures in my phone with people I don't know
Woke up in the mornin', how the hell'd I make it home?
[Pre-Chorus: Luke]
And they wondered how long I could keep it up
While I wondered if I'd ever, if I'd ever get enough
And I did some shit I never should've done, eh-eh
I would do it over now, I'd do it over
[Chorus: Luke]
Shout out to the old me and everything you showed me
Glad you didn't listen when the world was trying to slow me
No one could control me, left my lovers lonely
Had to fuck it up before I really got to know me, eh-eh
All of the mistakes I made, I made, I made, I made
Whatever the price I paid, I paid, I paid, I paid
Shout out to the old me and everything you showed me
Had to fuck it up before I let you get to know me, eh-eh
[Verse 2: Juice WRLD]
I went and ran up a couple of milli'
Now everybody want to make money with me
Nobody wanted to struggle with me
Now they wanna get triple-doubles with me
You will do as you told, I do whatever I want
Celebrate success, confetti
Remember forever, you can not forget me
Not only do I got drip, I got sauce, yeah, yeah, yeah (Uh)
I'm winnin' every day, they taking loss, yeah, yeah, yeah (Uh)
Look at his watch, my wrist take a shit on his
He can't do the shit I did (Did)
[Chorus: Luke]
Shout out to the old me and everything you showed me
Glad you didn't listen when the world was trying to slow me
No one could control me, left my lovers lonely
Had to fuck it up before I really got to know me, eh-eh
All of the mistakes I made, I made, I made, I made
Whatever the price I paid, I paid, I paid, I paid
Shout out to the old me and everything you showed me
Had to fuck it up before I let you get to know me, eh-eh
[Verse 3: Luke]
Another round here we go, goin' in blow for blow
Lookin' to the mirror, take the punches that I throw
I'm constantly reminded, of all the compromises
By the people from the past that have a hard time letting go, yeah
[Bridge: Luke]
Devil at my door
Got me knockin', knockin', knockin' on the other side
Ashes on the floor
But I'm walkin', walkin', walkin' outta here alive
[Chorus: Luke & Calum]
Shout out to the old me and everything you showed me
Glad you didn't listen when the world was trying to slow me (The world was trying to slow me, yeah)
No one could control me, left my lovers lonely (Lonely)
Had to fuck it up before I really got to know me, eh-eh
All of the mistakes I made, I made, I made, I made
Whatever the price I paid, I paid, I paid, I paid (Yeah)
Shout out to the old me and everything you showed me (Yeah, the old me)
Had to fuck it up before I let you get to know me, eh-eh

You've got an awesome voice @coderaikiri
I think you'll just need to work a little bit on your convenient key. Having a convenient key helps you maintain a particular voice without changing to another in a particular song..
Funny thing is I don't even know what keys are
Thanks for the advice
It seems this key of a thing is a constant problem, I need to get insight about what it truly is
