Why dance to the music of Self deceit ?

Sometimes, we paint scenarios to suit our taste and obscure reality giving us a false view of what a situation or problem really is. We conceal our greatest demons and fight the truth within us.

We fail to move on from what has been haunting our souls deep down and just rather, create excuses to fill that stream of regret.

Perhaps we're frightened of accepting what might come with the truth, perhaps we're scared off what the world might say when we reveal the truth, accepting our flaws and darkest secrets.

Yesterday, I lost the motivation to come up with a topic but thank the heavens for the captivating power of music. I Was recommended a song on YouTube...

The song is titled "broken" by isak Danielson.

It talks about a lady who is in an abusive and manipulative relationship. She pretends that everything is fine and perfect, she fails to open up to anyone, not even her friends. She strives to keep the relationship and creates a false world in her thoughts where everything is perfect, an alternate world where she creates excuses for not leaving.

Sometimes we Just want things to be in a certain way, and when it turns out not to be so, we create a false scenario that depicts perfection amidst imperfections, love amidst hate, success amidst failures. At some point in our lives we've done this, we failed to accept what others perceived in us — be it anger, hatred, character flaws.

I was once told by so many people that I had anger issues but I refuted, claiming I only reacted to unpleasant situations and people who tried taking advantage of my calm nature. Were they wrong? Even if they were, how can the whole world and everyone who's come across us be wrong?

I eventually got rid of the excuses I created as an escape from facing the reality which seemed so evident. I accepted who I was and rather chose to work on it and improve rather than fighting myself over and over and over again.

Ever felt like you're right even when the universe tells you just how wrong you are? Ever tried to conceal the truth about you with lies? Ever tried creating this scene of just how perfect your life is when deep down you're searching for peace amidst the void engrossed within your heart.

It's human nature to do so but what this song is trying to pass across is that we should own up to our mistakes, flaws and imperfection so that we can grow and submit to peace.

Why live in self deceit? Perhaps we're scared of the inevitable changes that may come with accepting and fighting our inner demons, perhaps we're scared of the world seeing us differently from the picture we've painted of ourselves, or perhaps...

it's just easier to live in our self-created fantasies.

Truly, admitting the truth opens up opportunities for improvement, there is literally no gain in self deceit. Even if one deceives other people, deceiving yourself too would only lead to stagnation.
Beautiful song, with a strong message.
