Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today I’m joining you here to share a new chapter in my life with you. This time, I want to tell you how rehearsals are going at Canticum Merú, but before that, I’d like to take a brief moment to send my encouragement, strength, and love to all Colombians who suffered through the terrible earthquake yesterday, August 10, and were affected in one way or another. It’s truly heartbreaking. I know there are many Hivers here on Hive who are from there, so I hope you’re all safe and well. With that said, let’s get started.
A few days ago we had a choir rehearsal, but I hadn’t had a chance to talk about it. The holiday season is approaching, and one of my fellow choir members let me know that we’ll most likely start working on the Christmas repertoire in September. And that, my friends, is something I’m really looking forward to, since I’ve heard it’s a pretty busy time for the choir in terms of performances and their beautiful songs. They’re in high demand all over the city. I love that time of year, and I can’t wait to see which songs we’ll be singing. For now, we’re continuing with the “Agnus Dei” and “Pie Jesus,” which are coming along much better. I’m particularly enjoying this “Pie Jesus”—it has a very pleasant melody, especially because the two soloists make the whole piece sound otherworldly. It’s not easy to sing, but they’re excellent.

It’s likely that this August there won’t be any events other than religious or ceremonial ones. Take graduations, for example. Although in some places, festivals and other celebrations have resumed. However, I think that even though it’s been over a month since the twin earthquakes in Venezuela, people still don’t feel at ease with everything that’s happened, and above all, the economic situation is far from good. It seems to me that many of us Venezuelans are experiencing a certain decline, despite our efforts to stay afloat. I also find it disconcerting how many earthquakes have occurred in such a short period of time around the world. It’s a long and sensitive topic. Without going into further detail, I’ll reserve my opinions for now. See you in the next post. Hugs, and thanks for reading.
