Preparando el Taller de Mándalas 🌟🎨❤️ [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today I’m joining you here to share another day in my life with you. This time, I want to tell you about how I was preparing the materials and mandalas for a workshop (specifically, a mandala workshop) that I was scheduled to lead on Saturday at the Canticum Merú Music Academy for the children in the choir. On Saturday, the academy’s children were offered a mandala workshop designed to provide a space for them to create, think, play, and appreciate their own work. Since the workshop was for young children, I wanted to make it easier for them by cutting out the mandala templates, preparing the background color, and providing a series of guide lines so everyone could position each element more accurately. I think this was vitally important because when someone starts drawing mandalas right away using geometric shapes without any guide lines, it’s a bit difficult and the results might not turn out very well. Unless, of course, they’re people who are used to working with them and have all the necessary skills. However, I’d say that working freehand can be a challenge.

En esta ocasión les quiero contar sobre cómo estuve preparando los materiales y mándalas para un taller (precisamente, de mándalas) que debía ofrecer el día sábado en la Academia de Música de Canticum Merú para los niños del coro. Para el día sábado se le ofreció a los niños de la academia un taller de mándalas que tenía cómo objetivo ofrecer un espacio para crear, pensar, jugar y apreciar el trabajo propio. Cómo el taller se ofrecía a niños pequeños, quise facilitar el trabajo del recorte del soporte, la preparación de la base (color) del mismo y una serie de líneas guías para que todos pudieran ubicar de mejor forma cada elemento. Creo que esto fue de vital importancia porque cuando alguien comienza a ejecutar el dibujo de los mándalas de buenas a primeras con figuras geométricas sin ninguna línea guía, resulta un poco difícil y posiblemente no salgan muy bien. A menos que por supuesto, sean personas que estén acostumbradas a trabajar con ello y tengan toda la habilidad. Sin embargo, diría que trabajar a mano alzada puede ser un reto.
I was waiting here for the cardboard circles. They’re just the right size: not too big, not too small. I drew them with a compass, measuring about 13 cm in diameter. Then I cut out each circle with electric scissors—which, by the way, have been one of the best gifts I’ve ever received, since they’re super practical and efficient. And if there’s one thing teachers and artists use a lot, it’s cardboard and other materials that are a bit stiffer or harder to cut with scissors. Then I painted them all “baby blue.” I used this color as a base because I had white and I didn’t have white (hahaha). Then I added the circles and lines with a pencil. Finally, the idea was for each child to make one large mandala and one small one, which would be tied together with string—just as you see in the photo. Aquí estuve esperando los círculos de cartón. Tienen un tamaño adecuado: ni muy grande, ni muy pequeño. Lo hice con un compas, midiendo unos 13 cm de diámetro. Luego pase a cortar cada círculo con una tijera electrica, que por cierto, ha sido uno de los mejores regalos que me han hecho en la vida pues es súper práctico y eficiente. Y si algo usamos mucho los docentes y los artistas, es el cartón y otros materiales que son un poco más duros o difíciles de maniobrar con las tijeras. Luego los pinte a todos con pintura "azul bebé". Use este como una base porque tenía blanco y no tenía blanco (jajaja). Luego añadí las circunferencias y líneas, con lápiz. Finalmente la idea era que cada niño hiciera un mándala grande y uno pequeño que se uniría con una cuerda. Cómo lo ven en la fotografía. Sin más que decir, muchísimas gracias por pasar por aquí.
