Guayana a una voz: presentación en la capilla del Colegio Nazareth [ENG/ESP]

Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today I’m joining you here to share a new chapter in my life with you. First of all, I’d like to congratulate all the choir members across the country because yesterday, July 15, was National Choral Singing Day. And thanks to that, I’m here today to tell you about the event held in honor of that day—which was also dedicated to all the people and animals affected by the tragedy of the twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela. Four choirs from Ciudad Guayana came together: Las Voces Blancas de Canticum Merú, the Marie Curie Youth Choir, the Coro Integral de Ciudad Guayana, and us, the women’s voices of Canticum Merú.

As expected, we all gathered at the agreed-upon time at Nazareth School. Before every event where we’re going to sing, we—and generally any choir—have the obligation and need to warm up our voices so we can stay in tune, hit the right notes, stay relaxed, be ready, and, of course, avoid straining our voices. Little by little, the children, parents, and the general public began to arrive. I must say it was a beautiful day—with bright sunshine, clear skies, and a pleasant breeze—as if made just for us to dedicate this day to singing. I had never visited this chapel before, but I found it quite lovely and modern. When we were all ready, the singing began with the first choir, which was the children’s choir of Canticum Merú.

Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Lifestyle. El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes un nuevo día en mi vida. Antes que nada, deseo felicitar a todos los coralistas del país porque ayer 15 de Julio fue el día Nacional del Canto Coral. Y gracias a ello en esta ocasión les vengo a contar cómo fue el evento que se hizo en honor a ese día (la efeméride) y que también se dedicó a todas las personas/animales que se vieron afectados tras la tragedia del doble terremoto sucedido en Venezuela. Nos reunimos cuatro coros de Ciudad Guayana: Las Voces Blancas de Canticum Merú, la Coral Juvenil Marie Curie, la Coro Integral de Ciudad Guayana y nosotras, las voces femeninas de Canticum Merú.

Cómo era lo esperado, todos nos reunimos a la hora acordada en el Colegio Nazareth. Antes de cada evento dónde vamos a cantar, nosotras tenemos (y en general cualquier coro) tenemos la obligación y la necesidad de vocalizar (calentar la voz), para poder estar afinadas, alcanzar las notas, bien relajadas, listas y por supuesto, no dañar nuestra voz. Poco a poco fueron llegando los niños, los padres y público en general. Debo decir que hacia un día muy bello; con un sol bien intenso, el cielo despejado, una brisa agradable y cómo hecha para que hoy pudiéramos dedicar este día al canto. Yo no había visitado antes esta capilla, pero me pareció bastante linda y moderna. Cuando todos estuvimos listos, se dió comienzo al canto con el primer coro que fue el de las voces blancas de Canticum Merú.

They sang songs in Italian that were closely related to the context of the dedication: reaching for the sky, singing for those children whose light was extinguished, and more. It was truly very moving to listen to them, and I think more than one person felt a little sad. Next, the young people from Marie Curie sang—they’re a new choir, by the way (founded this past June 2026)—and their performance was equally beautiful. They were all full of energy. Then it was our turn, and we sang our sacred repertoire, along with a few songs that fit the occasion. To wrap things up, the children from the Coral Integral gave a wonderful performance.

All in all, it was a great day for choral singing in Bolívar State. It was also wonderful to see so many people come together to volunteer their time and effort to raise the necessary donations, and for our voices to serve in one way or another to bring comfort and joy. Cantaron canciones en italiano y que estaban estrechamente relacionadas con el contexto de la dedicatoria; alcanzar el cielo, cantar por aquellos niños que su luz se vió apagada y más. La verdad fue muy conmovedor escucharlos y creo que más de uno se sintió un poco triste. Luego cantaron los jóvenes del Marie Curie, que por cierto, son una coral nueva (su creación se dió este junio del 2026) y fue igualmente muy bella su presentación. Todos llenos de energía. Luego pasamos nosotras y cantamos el repertorio sacro, más algunas canciones que iban acorde al momento. Para finalizar estaban los niños de la Coral Integral, quienes hicieron una gran presentación.

En definitiva, fue un gran día para el canto coral del estado Bolívar. También, fue bonito poder ver a tantas personas reunidas en favor de regalar tiempo y esfuerzo para poder recaudar las donaciones correspondientes y que nuestras voces sirvieran de una forma y otra para traer consuelo y alegría.
