El ensayo informativo (con Canticum Merú) y sobre Venezuela 🎹☕ [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today I’m joining you here to share a new day in my life with you. On this occasion, I want to tell you a little about yesterday’s rehearsal—which took place on Tuesday—and was dedicated to rehearsing new songs that will be part of our upcoming performances. In Venezuela, we’re still in mourning, and today, July 24, marks one month since the tragedy of the twin earthquakes. It’s incredible how time has flown and how things have changed—and for many people, they’ll definitely never be the same again. Just today, I was looking at some news reports showing the conditions in which some people are living: in tents, at relatives’ homes, or even still in hospitals. I’m not sure about the situation regarding the deceased, as I’d heard there were problems giving them a dignified burial. In the face of all this, many people continue to work to help with this cause.
Speaking of the news, I also remember reading about the Hantavirus or Guanarito hemorrhagic fever, since some cases of people who were infected (and also some deaths) were recently reported in Venezuela. I don’t mean to cause alarm or panic, but these are certainly things that give us pause. The country isn’t in a position to withstand yet another tragedy.
Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Lifestyle. El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes un nuevo día en mi vida. Me está ocasión les quiero contar un poco sobre el ensayo del día de ayer martes, el cual fue dedicado al ensayo de nuevas canciones que servirán para las próximas presentaciones. En Venezuela todavía estamos de luto y justamente este 24 de Julio, se cumple un mes desde la tragedia del doble terremoto. Es increíble cómo ha pasado el tiempo y cómo la cosas han cambiado, y pues definitivamente no volverán a ser iguales para muchas personas. Hoy justamente revisaba algunas noticias dónde se mostraba las condiciones en las que algunas personas viven: en carpas, en casa de familiares o inclusive, todavía en los hospitales. Desconozco del movimiento con respecto a los fallecidos, pues había escuchado que habían problemas para darles digna sepultura. Frente a todo esto, muchos siguen trabajando para ayudar en esta causa.
Hablando de noticias, recuerdo también leer lo del virus del Hantavirus o de la Fiebre hemorrágica de Guanarito, pues en Venezuela se reportaron recientemente algunos casos de personas que se vieron infectadas (y también algunos fallecidos). Con esto no quiero generar alarmas o pánico, pero ciertamente son cosas que dan que pensar. El país no se encuentra en condiciones para sostener una tragedia más.
Getting back to the Canticum Merú thread (to talk about something a little more optimistic), today our director showed us this article about the Second National Meeting of Equal-Voice Choirs in Venezuela. The first one was in 2001, and this one took place in 2003. I wasn’t even born back then, but now that I’ve been part of the choral movement, I know that here in Ciudad Guayana, choral life has been going on for about 60 years. Canticum Merú is part of that history, as one of the longest-running and most renowned choirs. I’d like to learn a little more about the other choirs that existed back then in Ciudad Guayana—and even throughout the country. In the meantime, I’m sharing this historical gem with you for posterity. Without further ado, thank you so much for stopping by.
Volviendo al hilo de Canticum Merú (para hablar de algo un poco más optimista), hoy nuestra directora nos mostró este artículo donde hablan sobre el II Encuentro Nacional de Coros de Voces Iguales en Venezuela. El primero fue en 2001 y este fue en 2003. Para aquellos años yo ni existía, pero ahora que he estado dentro del movimiento coral, sé que aquí en Ciudad Guayana van unos 60 años (aproximadamente) de vida coral. Dentro de esa historia está Canticum Merú, cómo uno de los coros más longevos y de mayor reconocimiento. Me gustaría conocer un poco más sobre los demás coros que existían por aquellos años en Ciudad Guayana, inclusive, dentro del país. Mientras tanto, les dejo esa reliquia para la posteridad.
