El comienzo de semana con "Cantares" [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today I’m joining you here to share a new chapter in my life with you. This time, I want to tell you how our latest musical rehearsal went. As I’ve mentioned before, due to the situation in our country over the past few weeks, all artistic and cultural performances have been canceled. However, there have been some choral performances aimed at lifting everyone’s spirits with music during these times when it’s needed most. Other performances are religious in nature, serving as a service to the community. It’s precisely because of the latter that we’ve been rehearsing sacred repertoire, but this week we started working on other songs that are “classics” (so to speak) in choirs: “Te Quiero” and “Cantares.”
Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Lifestyle. El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes un nuevo día en mi vida. En esta ocasión les quiero contar cómo nos fue en este nuevo ensayo musical. Cómo les había comentado, por la situación de nuestro país en estas últimas semanas, todas las presentaciones artísticas o culturales han quedado canceladas. Sin embargo, se han presentado algunas presentaciones corales que han tenido la intención de acompañar en estos momentos dónde se necesita levantar los ánimos de todos con algo de música. Y otros momentos son de índole religioso, como un servicio a la comunidad. Precisamente gracias a eso último se ha estado ensayando el repertorio sacro, pero en esta semana comenzamos con otras canciones que son un "clásico" (cómo quién dice) en los coros: "Te Quiero" y "Cantares".
I wasn't feeling quite right today, since I'd been working on some things for our vacation plans and also getting ready for a possible trip in September. However, I decided to come so I wouldn't lose my momentum, and because we were working on “Agnus Dei” and “Jesus Pie.” The latter isn't particularly difficult, but I'm surprised that in certain measures, it's quite a challenge for me to remember some of the notes. It’s quite beautiful; I think that once we have it fully rehearsed, it will be one of the songs we sing most often because it’s quite delicate and well-suited to the kind of performances we usually give.
By the way, today’s interesting find is this sheet music signed by singer-songwriter María Rivas, which was dedicated to my colleague Elena Tortolero during one of her visits when she collaborated with the choir. By the way, Elenita is one of the founding members of Canticum Merú, so it’s doubly fantastic to have this beautiful memento of hers here. I love being able to see all these treasures in person and share them with you. It was a productive day. I’ll tell you all about the preparations I mentioned and more soon. Hoy tenía un poco de malestar, pues había estado haciendo algunas cuestiones para el plan vacacional y también preparándome para un posible viaje en el mes de septiembre. Sin embargo, decidí asistir para no perder la continuidad y porque estábamos sacando el Agnus Dei y Jesus Pie. Esa última no es particularmente difícil, pero me sorprende que en ciertos compases se me hace todo un reto recordar algunas notas. Es bastante bonita, me parece que cuando la tengamos completa será una de las canciones que más se cantaran porque es bastante delicada y adecuada para el tipo de presentaciones que solemos ofrecer.
Por cierto, la curiosidad del día de hoy es esta partitura firmada por la cantautora María Rivas y que fue dedicada a mi compañera Elena Tortolero, durante una de las visitas que hizo y que colaboró con el coro. Por cierto, Elenita es una de las miembros fundadores de Canticum Merú, así que es algo doblemente fantástico este bello registro que ella tiene aqui. Me encanta poder ver todo estos tesoros en persona y poder compartirlo con ustedes. Fue un día productivo. Les contaré en el furor sobre los preparativos mencionados y más.
