¿Alguna vez has mirado hacia el cielo sin saber lo que realmente necesitas, y de pronto encuentras algo más que una simple respuesta? Vaya que si esta hermosa sorpresa viene envuelta con la melodía de un tema musical, el momento se convierte en algo más que especial. Porque aunque es una canción que siempre ha estado allí, parece llegar por la atracción de un sentimiento que encaja perfectamente en cada letra y cada nota musical. La sorpresa de escucharla es tan grande como la similitud que tu vida puede tener con una historia que fue contada desde hace mucho tiempo.

"Somewhere only we know" es una joya musical, sacada desde las aguas más profundas de una década que destaca por la calidad de sus canciones e intérpretes. No es un tema desconocido ni recién descubierto por mí, pero vaya que ha sido bastante oportuno para estos tiempos en los que me ha dado por meditar, mirar un poco atrás y pensar un poco en lo que he hecho y he dejado de hacer. Fue una de estas noches en las que me puse a buscar por el amplio universo musical y me encontré con esta obra de arte hecha música. En muchas frases de ella no solo me siento reflejado sino también comprendido por una historia que muchos cantamos y algunos vivimos.

"Somewhere only we know" is a musical gem, pulled from the deepest waters of a decade that stands out for the quality of its songs and performers. It's not an unknown or newly discovered track for me, but wow, it was quite timely for these times when I've been given to meditate, look back a bit and think a bit about what I've done and not done. It was one of these nights when I started searching through the wide musical universe and I found this work of art made music. In many phrases of it I not only feel reflected but also understood by a story that many of us sing and some of us live.

🎶"Oh simple thing. Where have you gone?"🎶 ¿Cuándo dejé de hacer esas cosas que en lo simple no dejaban de ser especial? Recuerdo que hasta hace poco era un eterno soñador que solía encontrar la ilusión desde la primera luz de cada día. De pronto empecé a creer en cosas más grandes, pensando que para alcanzarlas debía sacrificar algunas cosas que, aunque parecían pequeñas, no dejaban de ser importantes para mí. Antes parecía tener tiempo para sentarme y hablar a solas, mientras que ahora parezco correr detrás de algo que jamás se deja alcanzar. Así sin más entonces me doy cuenta de que el tiempo pasa y no deja de avanzar, y yo sigo esperando por esa persona o ese lugar ideal para llegar en vez de disfrutar lo que ahora tengo junto a mí.

🎶"Sat by the river and it made me complete".🎶 Creo que dentro de toda la canción esta es la frase que define con claridad lo que sentí cuando me reencontré con este tema. Debo decir que además de escucharla en repetidas ocasiones, me sentí muy alegre al entonar gran parte de la misma. En cuestión de segundos hubo un cambio en mí, y por momentos me sentí tan alegre como inspirado para decirme a mí mismo que todo está bien. Sentado en el patio de mi casa y con esta canción sonando una y otra vez, era como una especie de abrigo que cada vez más me regresaba la confianza y la seguridad que en algún momento sabía manejar.

Es así como entonces llegamos a apreciar los pequeños detalles que podemos valorar y hacer valer para alguien más. En mi caso también ocurre con esas cosas que jamás me he atrevido a hacer o decir. ¿Acaso estoy esperando el momento perfecto? Precisamente los momentos y detalles perfectos brotan así, de manera inesperada y poco planeada, dándole el brillo y la naturalidad que redunda en algo especial e inolvidable.

I remember that until recently I was an eternal dreamer who used to find illusion from the first light of each day. Suddenly I began to believe in bigger things, thinking that to achieve them I had to sacrifice some things that, although they seemed small, were still important to me. Before I seemed to have time to sit and talk alone, while now I seem to be running after something that never lets itself be reached. Just like that then I realize that time passes and keeps moving forward, and I keep waiting for that person or that ideal place to arrive instead of enjoying what I now have next to me.

🎶"Sat by the river and it made me complete".🎶 I think that within the whole song this is the phrase that clearly defines what I felt when I reencountered this song. I must say that in addition to listening to it repeatedly, I felt very happy when I sang most of it. In a matter of seconds there was a change in me, and at times I felt both joyful and inspired to tell myself that all is well. Sitting on the patio of my house with this song playing over and over again, it was like a kind of a coat that increasingly gave me back the confidence and security that I once knew how to handle.

That's how we then come to appreciate the little things that we can value and make worthwhile for someone else. In my case it also happens with those things that I have never dared to do or say. Am I waiting for the perfect moment? Precisely the perfect moments and details sprout in this way, unexpectedly and unplanned, giving it the brightness and naturalness that results in something special and unforgettable.
