I See You Fall! A #threetunetuesday post

Here we are! Less than a week ago we crossed the threshold into Fall. I think I actually screwed up in one of my other posts and said it had already arrived even though it hadn't. The leaves on some of the trees behind my house have already started to turn color and before long we will be in the midst of a technicolor dream like you see above.

I'm actually excited that Fall is here for a number of reasons.

First, Fall means the weather is finally starting to be a bit more reasonable. I shouldn't really complain, Summer in Michigan doesn't get nearly as bad as it does in other parts of the world. Arizona had an absolutely brutal Summer this year. According to @gooddream, Vietnam has it rough as well. Here we get maybe 15 insanely hot days in the Summer and that is it.

Like I said though, now we are into the good stuff. Daily temps in the mid to low 70's, night time temps in the high 40's to low 50's. It's weather that was made for leaving your windows open. Until that dang skunk wanders around the neighborhood. Then Jovi starts barking at 1:00 AM and I have to get up and shut them all.

Second, I have a trip coming up that I have been waiting for ever since I booked it. @mrsbozz and I are getting away for out anniversary and I am really excited about that.

With the ushering in of Fall, I thought it would only be right to use that as the theme for this weeks #threetunetuesday sponsored by @ablaze.

There are any number of directions I could have went for this post. I'm trying to avoid some of the obvious ones like "November Rain" by Guns N' Roses, or "October" by U2. It's hard, because there are so many to choose from. "September Morn" by Neil Diamond anyone? I could go on and on. Instead, let's get to the songs I actually did pick.

Van Morrison is one of my favorite artists of all time and this song was actually the inspiration for choosing Fall as the theme this week. If there was any question about this song having anything to do with Fall, it should be cleared up in the first two stanzas.

"Well, it's a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
You know I'm tryin' to please to the calling
Of your heartstrings that play soft and low"

Fall is probably my most favorite time of year. There is something about it that is just warm and cozy. It's like you nature is just wrapping it's arms around you and asking you to hold it tight for just a few more months before things turn white and desolate. At least that's how it is in Michigan. I get how Spring is supposed to be happy with rebirth and all of that, and while I appreciate it, give me Fall.

If you aren't familiar with Van Morrsion or you only know one or two of his songs, I highly encourage you to start at the Moondance album. It's absolutely fantastic. I own it on vinyl and it is easily in the top five of my most prized albums.

This is one of the more obscure selections on my list for this week and if you didn't know any better, you might think that my theme was actually something to do with the moon. I get that, but like I said, theme is Fall, so rather than focusing on the title "Dancing in the Moonlight", you should be focusing on the name of the band: King Harvest.

Fall is the time that we harvest things am I right?

It just sort of fits doesn't it? I've always enjoyed this old tune by King Harvest. I think it was one of the only ones they had that actually did something on the chart. Which is kind of sad. The lead singer has a great voice. Did you know they are actually a French American band and it wasn't until they reformed over across the pond that they started recording their first songs?

Wikipedia taught me that.

Also, their name is derived from a song by "The Band" which I was almost going to include in this post until I decided to head a different direction.

Sharing is song with you has me thinking I need to dig a little deeper into King Harvest's catalog on Spotify to see if they have any hidden gems that are as good as "Dancing in the Moonlight".

Finally, as we approach the end of September, it felt only proper to include "Wake me up when September ends" by Greenday. Obviously because of the title, but also because Greenday just rocks. I got to see Greenday when they were on tour with Blink 182 and it was a pretty fantastic show. I remember it was down at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI and it was a really memorable occasion.

Probably one of the top 10 best shows I have ever been to. Which is saying a lot because I have been to a ton of shows.

When I saw them, "Wake me up..." wasn't even in their catalog yet. It's a really great song though, I like the way it starts out pretty mellow, then the drums come in and really take over. It's almost got a bit of a marching beat to it. It kind of reminds me of a Bruce Springsteen song or the song Springsteen by Eric Church.

Did I lose you jumping across genres there?

Fall is here, there is no question about that, what are your favorite fall time songs? It can be a song about Fall, or just a song that makes you want to curl up with some flannel and a cup of hot cocoa.

A good choice of tunes to see in the end of Rektember. I say the last 2 are my favorites. As to favorite overall autumn songs, I would have to ponder that for some time, nothing is springing to my right now. 🎵🎼🎶

It can be tough. There are plenty of them out there! Thanks for stopping by. I've been hearing some chatter that we might be on the cusp of putting this bear fully behind us. Not a moment too soon!

Fingers crossed! I've been seeing a lot more positive news than the FUD we were seeing every day for a while there.

Warm and cozy makes sense a lot. You won't be extremely hot or cold. That's a nice moment. The songs are also lovely

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'd rather be able to snuggle up than be so hot you can't get any relief.

Green Day are pretty cool I must admit. Van Morrison for me is one that I know I know their songs but can't remember off the top of my head.

Here is hoping you enjoy your anniversary trip when you go.

All great choices. And Green Day! Gotta love any post featuring them.

That's a beautiful leading photo. Hope you can enjoy it there while it lasts! It is still into the 90s everyday here, so I don't think the leaves will be changing anytime soon. But... at least the evenings are starting to get cooler, so there's that.

That opening photo is from up on Higgins Lake a couple of years ago. The leaves behind our house are already starting to turn, but none of them are quite as vibrant as that yet.
