No Time to Play

avatar

For whatever reason, I had the urge to revisit Guru’s first Jazzmatazz album this week. After not hearing it for a decade or more, I was really impressed to find out that it was even better than I had remembered it.

It’s really hard to pick just one song from this album, but since I very much feel the lyrics of the song above (Never no time to play. Gotta get working’ every day.), this is the one I’m sharing.

After listening to Jazzmatazz, I spent a lot of time revisiting early Native Tongue albums and early 90s East Coast hip hop. Doing so brought back a lot of memories for me, which very randomly made me remember this album by Josh Ritter.

I always liked this opening song. Something about the chaotic feel of the intro and the line I love the way you look in your underwear. I don’t know why, it just does it for me.

This is from an album that I listen to endlessly every spring. I don’t know why, but I do.

Again, it’s hard to separate only one song from the album, but today I’m choosing this one. It makes me want to dance, and it speaks to the place I’m in.

Enjoy the Music

Thanks @ablaze

My apologies. I was posting from memory and haven’t posted in PukuMundo for a while. Now I remember, it is an art community. I’ll be more careful next time.

Great mix of tunes going on here, Josh Ritter has a great following here in Ireland and I have seen him live a few times, he has some great tunes and is great live. Really liked that opener from Guru too, I will have to check out that album.. Finished out nicely then with some Jimmy Cliff, excellent

I had no idea Josh Ritter was popular in Ireland. Actually, I don’t know much about him at all, so he could be popular anywhere and I wouldn’t know. 🤣

That Guru album is well worth the listen. Check it out on your next drive.

No worries. You have a lot to attend to with TTT.

If Josh Ritter comes to Japan, I’ll try to catch his show.

Very good albums behind each of the songs, and plenty of dancing opportunities on the Jimmy Cliff side.
