The music industry has changed in recent years, now the era of singles, which had its first stage many years ago at the very beginning of the recording industry, has re-emerged; but if singles used to coexist with long plays, now, in many cases, they replace them.
I believe full-length albums have virtues that go beyond the singles and give them a special value, and in this section I share long plays or full-length albums, which from my particular tastes, I consider valuable as a whole, and not only as a collection of singles. They are albums that can be enjoyed from beginning to end, and that are more than the sum of their parts, I hope you enjoy them.
La industria de la música ha cambiado en los últimos años, ahora ha resurgido la época de los singles, que tuvo su primera etapa hace muchos años ya, en los inicios mismos de la industria discográfica; pero si antes los singles convivían con los long play, ahora, en muchos casos, los sustituyen.
Yo creo que los discos de larga duración tienen virtudes que van más allá de los sencillos y les dan un valor especial, y en esta sección comparto discos de larga duración, que a partir de mis gustos particulares, considero que son valiosos como un todo, y no solo como una colección de sencillos. Son discos que pueden disfrutarse de principio a fin, y que son más que la suma de sus partes, espero los disfruten.

A few days ago I stumbled upon a photo of Italian rapper Jovanotti, and I remembered that it had been years since I had listened to his album 'Lorenzo 1994', one of the albums I listened to the most in the second half of the 90's. Since that day I haven't stopped listening to it, and after 30 years, I'm surprised that it still sounds fresh and innovative.
Jovanotti is Italian, and one of the pillars of rap and hip hop in his language, and I dare say in all of Europe. The interesting thing about his music, and one of the reasons why I liked it at the beginning, and I consider that it is still being listened to today, is that although Jovanotti raps, the music he raps over is not the music traditionally associated with rap.
His style is difficult to define, because it mixes the bases of hip hop with sounds of funk, pop, and quite diverse ethnic influences. Generally his music is generated with live instruments, and his songs are very varied among themselves, so his productions always present a wide range of sounds, which in spite of that have a coherence that Jovanotti has been building over the years, and this album is a good example of it.
Hace unos días me topé casualmente con una foto del rapero italiano Jovanotti, y recordé que hacía años que no escuchaba su disco 'Lorenzo 1994', uno de los que más escuché en la segunda mitad de los 90's. Desde ese día no he parado de escucharlo, y después de 30 años, me sorprende que sigue sonando fresco e innovador.
Jovanotti es italiano, y uno de los pilares del rap y hip hop en su idioma, y me atrevo a decir que de toda europa. Lo interesante de su música, y una de las razones por la que me gustó al inicio, y considero que se sigue escuchando vigente, es que si bien Jovanotti rapea, la música sobre la que lo hace no es la que tradicionalmente se vincula al rap.
Su estilo es difícil de definir, porque mezcla las bases del hip hop con sonidos del funk, el pop, e influencias étnicas bastante diversas. Por lo general su música es generada con instrumentos en vivo, y sus canciones son muy variadas entre sí, por lo que sus producciones presentan siempre un amplio rango de sonidos, que a pesar de eso tienen una coherencia que Jovanotti ha ido construyendo a lo largo de los años, y este disco es buena muestra de ello.

'Death Stranding' is a video game that was controversial at the time, but that I enjoyed a lot, and that will surely be appreciated more and more as the years go by. Something that caught my attention from the beginning of the game, apart from its unmistakable landscapes, was its immersive, minimal and melancholy music.
The main responsible for the songs in the video game is the band 'Low Roar', whose leader and vocalist, Ryan Karazija, sadly passed away in 2022 at the age of only 40. The video game has the option to listen to the songs from the protagonist's bedroom, and it's something I sometimes did between games. So one day I decided to look for the soundtrack to listen to it in full, and I got a big surprise.
Except for one track by the mythical band 'Apocalyptica', and a couple by 'Silent Poets', the whole album is by a band, at that time totally unknown to me, 'Low Roar'. Since that moment the album is one of my favorites, and I have become a fan of the band and their music that mixes the electronic and the acoustic to generate a quiet, enigmatic sound, full of a very relaxing melancholy.
'Death Stranding' es un video juego que en su momento fue polémico, pero que yo disfruté mucho, y que seguramente con el paso de los años se irá valorando cada vez más. Algo que atrapó mi atención desde el inicio del juego, aparte de sus inconfundibles paisajes, fue su música inmersiva, mínima y cargada de melancolía.
El principal responsable de las canciones del videojuego es la banda 'Low Roar', cuyo líder y vocalista, Ryan Karazija, lamentablemente falleció en el 2022 a la edad de tan solo 40 años. El video juego tiene la opción de poder escuchar las canciones desde la recámara del protagonista, y es algo que a veces hice entre partida y partida. Así que un día decidí buscar el soundtrack para escucharlo completo, y me llevé una gran sorpresa.
Salvo por un tema a cargo de la mítica banda 'Apocalyptica', y un par a cargo de 'Silent Poets', todo el disco corre cargo de una banda, en ese entonces totalmete desconocida para mí, 'Low Roar'. Desde ese momento el disco es de mis favoritos, y me he vuelto fan de la banda y su música que mezcla lo electrónico y lo acústico para generar un sonido tranquila, enigmático y llena de de una melancolía sumamente relajante.
