Inspired By The Lack Of Color

Another gray afternoon, but not dark enough to rob me of the pleasure of another walk. When I have nothing to do, I run for a walk. I live in a big city, and there are many good places to walk. I have a few favorites, and one of them is "La sosea". A place called that because there is a boulevard called Sosea Kiseleff, a kind of Champs-Élysées of Bucharest."Sosea" means road.

This boulevard starts from Victory Square, an essential place in the city: another gray afternoon, this time in black and white.

Starting from Victoriei Square towards the Arc de Triomf, the road passes through parks and residential neighborhoods. In the first park, we came across a monument dedicated to the Roman army. It reminded me of the leaning tower of Pisa. The memorial is not leaning; the camera was leaning. I liked how it looked tilted and didn't want to edit the photo.

This part of the city has been and remains a hub of importance and wealth. The rich people of the town had houses here until 1944. After the war, the country became communist under Russian influence, and after 1989, it regained its democratic status. The old houses came into the possession of the newly rich. Many just wanted land to build new buildings. Some individuals didn't obtain permits, and as a result, houses remained unoccupied for 35 years.

"Everyone has their mission, with all of us united, how can we doubt success? What does it matter that we won't be there the day the work is finished?"

Nicolae Titulescu (4 March 1882 – 17 March 1941) was a Romanian politician and diplomat, at various times ambassador, finance minister, and foreign minister, and for two terms served as president of the General Assembly of the League of Nations (1930–32). Source

Arc de Triomphe

It was built in 1921-22 and commemorates Romania's participation in World War I

It is now less of a place of commemoration, although all the National Day military parades pass through here, and it is a very popular meeting place.

Four Years of Three Tune Tuesday, proposed by @ablaze.

Outstanding!

I chose to celebrate myself by playing three songs selected at random, based on the black and white color image of the video. Three songs that I like.

Thank you!

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.

I rely mostly on photos in all my blogs. Words don't help me as much as photos.

I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that turn into words. The words have even less importance; they are a companion to the photos I want to show. This often makes the story uninteresting or common, yet it is necessary; otherwise, the photos would merely be a series of unexciting images.

I make this statement as a plea to those reading not to overjudge the text and to focus on the photos. The story puts everything in context and provides the explanations and clarifications necessary for the blog to convey something of interest to the reader.

A wise saying goes that a photograph is worth a thousand words, but I'm not sure. In my opinion, it depends on the viewer.

Interesting story, those houses could have served for the good of citizens.

A complete post with spectacular music and images. The first song is beautiful, I love it! What caught my attention is the photo of those houses abandoned for so many years... those houses arouse mystery and curiosity. I really enjoyed your pictures. Thank you very much!

I like the photos and the music you've chosen to go with them, although I must say only the first of the songs had I heard before. But the music and the pictures and how you relate the walk are in perfect harmony.

I hope you are well Dan. Cheers!

Thank you! The first song was a big hit many years ago. They are all old, as I am, and because I am also a pessimist... the last song is my favorite. It is so sad and desperate that you don't even need to understand the lyrics. Thanks for the question, I don't really know what to answer. This year is a year full of trials and I hope it ends well.
I am very happy to have received these lines from you. All the best to you and your family!
