LyricalGPT Is The AI Songwriting Partner That Actually Understands Music

If you have ever tried to write a full song, you know the feeling. The song is almost there. You just need the words to catch up to the sound. That's exactly the kind of moment LyricalGPT was built for. It helps gives those with an idea a lyrical voice or just some assistance to those who have that severe case of writer's block.

What We Built

LyricalGPT is an AI chat interface built directly into the BlockTunes Studio, specialized entirely for songwriting. It's not a general-purpose chatbot that happens to know some song lyrics. It knows song structure. It knows verse/chorus/bridge form. It knows rhyme schemes, internal rhyme, near rhyme, and when to break patterns on purpose. It knows the difference between a hook and a pre-chorus, and it won't confuse the two. Well, nothing is perfect, but we have done our best.

It runs on a dedicated server on BlockTunes hardware, powered by a local Deepseek model, an open-source language model deployed and managed entirely by us using Ollama server, which loads and connects the model to our interface. No OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google bills. No latency spike because someone else's server is overloaded, only when our server is overloaded, haha. Your lyrics never leave our infrastructure, and your prompts are not used to train our models. We have gone through several models at this point to land on the best one we can find for creative writing, then opened it's brain and trained it to be a top tier song writer.

Genre and Mood Chips

The hardest part of writing a song is honestly just get started. We know this pain all too well and is why we built LyricalGPT to help remove that friction entirely.

Before you start writing, select your genre and your mood. LyricalGPT adjusts its voice accordingly.

Boom bap doesn't sound like bedroom pop. Dark doesn't sound like celebratory. Reggaeton doesn't sound like country. The model knows the conventions of each genre, the cadence, the imagery, the vocabulary, and it writes to match.

This isn't a surface-level adjustment. Genre conventions in songwriting run deep. The way a blues lyric handles tension is fundamentally different from how a pop lyric does it. The model has absorbed enough of both to write authentically in either.

Quick Actions: No Blank Page

Along with genre and mood selectors, we also built in one-click Quick Actions that let you easily generate prompts on the fly. It gives you a quick way to tell it what kind of structure you are looking for.

• Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Pre-Chorus, Hook -- standard song structure, any genre
• Full Song -- a complete structural outline to build from
• 15s Spot, 30s Spot -- short-form ad copy in a defined time window
• Brand Hook, Tagline -- for commercial and branded content creators

You don't have to write a prompt. You don't have to explain what you want. Click the action, get something back, react to it. Even if the first output isn't quite right, it's something to push against, and that's often all you need to find where you actually want to go.

Section Labels

Every response from LyricalGPT labels its song sections: [Verse 1], [Chorus], [Bridge], [Pre-Chorus], [Outro]. The structure is always visible. You always know what you're looking at and where it fits in the song. This is very helpful too when feeding into song generators like our TuneEngine.

When you're working on a full arrangement and jumping between sections, these section labels helps you keep everything organized without having to track it mentally.

Prompt Enhancer

Sometimes the gap between what you want and what you can describe is the actual problem. The Enhance button is there for that.

Write a rough prompt, even a single phrase, or just want to enhance the prompt the pill selections gave you, then hit Enhance before you send it. LyricalGPT rewrites the prompt using your selected genre and mood as context, giving the model a richer, more specific starting point than your original phrasing. The enhanced version replaces your input so you can review it before sending or tweak it further.

It's particularly useful when you know the vibe but struggle to articulate it precisely. Let the model help you ask it the right question.

AI Title

Once your session has some content, lyrics, a concept, even a few lines of direction, hit the AI Title button in the header. LyricalGPT reads the context of your session and generates three song title suggestions based on what you've been working on. You can start with the title if you want after selecting your genre and mood, either way you go, it's a tool to help you either create or improve your song title.

The suggestions draw from your actual content, not from a generic "what kind of song is this" prompt. If the session has a specific image, emotion, or phrase that's recurring, the titles tend to find it. So it really does work best when you enhance the title after the lyrics have been written. LyrcialGPT gives you a title in the output, so you can take that title from the response, enter it into the title bar, then enhance that. After that, you can regenerate the song with the new title. There are all kind of ways you can work it.

Chat History

Every session is saved automatically. The left sidebar shows your full session history with titles, rename any session by clicking the pencil or double-clicking the title, delete any session with the trash icon. Pretty straight forward and modeled after most LLM interfaces for familiarity.

Your history is always there when you come back. No copy-pasting into notes. No hoping you remember what you were working on. Go away and come back any time.

My Lyrics: Write in Your Voice

One of the most common frustrations with AI writing tools is that the output sounds like everyone else's output. LyricalGPT has a feature specifically to solve this issue.

In the My Lyrics section of the left sidebar, paste in examples of your own lyrics and save them as style references. When you start a new session, LyricalGPT uses up to three of your saved references as context in its system prompt. It writes to match the patterns in your actual work, so it's your rhyme scheme preferences, your vocabulary, and your structure instincts.

The result sounds like you. Or at least much closer to you than a generic model output would.

Copy, Regenerate, and Send to TuneEngine Buttons

Every response has a one-click copy button. No selecting, no right-clicking, no accidental partial copies. The full response goes to your clipboard instantly.

Paste it into your notes, your DAW session markers, your phone, wherever you work on lyrics. The friction between "LyricalGPT wrote something good" and "I have it in front of me" is exactly one click.

Along side that is a regenerate button. If LyricalGPT didn't really impress with the first round, you can regenerate from the original prompt. This does use more credits, but if you are on a subscription or staked tier plan, those regenerate every day. If you need more credits, well you can easily purchase more. Just saying...

Once you have the winning lyrics, you have a third button, Send to TuneEngine. This takes your lyrics and sends it to the next tab in the studio which is our song generator. In there you can create a style prompt, enhance that if you want, and then create your song! Now please note... Our TuneEngine models use lyrics in the prompt as more of a guideline... If it feels the need to change them for cadence, rhyme, or something like that, it will. So please take that into account.

Daily Limits and Access

LyricalGPT is available to every logged-in user. No subscription required to get started.

Access is credit-based. Every tier gets a daily credit allowance that refills every 24 hours. LyricalGPT costs 0.5 credits per message.

Free users get 2 credits a day, enough to get started playing with the tools. If you use it heavily, buying extra credits gives you a pay-per-use cushion (a 10-credit starter bundle covers ~20 messages), or any tier subscription raises your daily allowance significantly. Extra credits never expire.

What It's Good At

Kinda getting to a wrap up point, LyricalGPT is great a create creation assistant tool that can be used for for:

• Getting you unstuck. When you know the vibe but can't find the words, it finds them. Or it finds something close enough that you know immediately what you actually wanted.
• Structural work. If you have a great verse but can't crack the chorus, ask it specifically for chorus options. Give it the verse as context and tell it what the song is about.
• Rewriting. Paste in a line you almost like. Tell it what's wrong. Ask it for five alternatives. The right one is usually in there.
• Rhyme hunting. Ask for lines that rhyme with a specific word or phrase while keeping the meaning you need.
• Outlining. Tell it the concept of a song and ask for a full structural outline before you write a single word.

What It Won't Replace

Your voice. Your perspective. The specific experience that made you want to write the song in the first place.

LyricalGPT generates language. You decide what the song is about. You decide which lines land and which ones don't. You decide what gets kept. The model doesn't know what this song means to you. That part is still entirely yours.

If you are a serious song writer, use it as a collaborator, not a ghostwriter. The best results come from people who push back on what it generates, redirect it, combine its output with their own lines, and treat the whole thing as a conversation rather than a vending machine.
