They Don’t Really Care About Us!
Just this afternoon, I was sitting at the shop looking at the sky and wanting to be sure if the rain will fall. Suddenly, I saw two government officials that I’ve had issues with sometime ago. They stepped in asking me to pay my shop’s tariff.
That’s normal and even though we’re not benefiting from the tariff, we still pay it to avoid problems but the problem now is that the tariff has been increased by forty-five percent.
What! Isn’t that a lot of money? If the money we pay as the tariff is actually used to repair the roads or do something which we can benefit from, it will be normal. Even though I’m going to complain, it won’t be this much. But as it is, I’m not benefiting from it and it has been increased by a whole forty-five percent.
Isn’t that much?
I don’t know what then made me remember the days of Michael Jackson when he mentioned that the government do not really care about us. They are just stingy bunch of people who care about themselves alone and it’s actually true.
All they want to do is make some money into their pocket. They steal and embezzle all the money that belongs to every citizen.
Now, I see. I clearly see the reason why the politicians of those days never liked Michael Jackson. No one is going to like anyone who exposes their illness but yes, Michael was right.
Does the government really care about us? Just take a look at the tariffs increased by Donald Trump. Either good or bad, the citizens will be the ones to suffer for it and the government would not feel the pinch no matter how little it may be.
Apparently, they care only about themselves and before they care about us, there would have been over ten more things that they care about.
Many times, the older ones say that a change will come but is it actually going to come? When will we begin to see the change? Is the fact that the government cares less about us ever going to change?
I just keep wondering about so many things not only happening in my country but the world entirely and I keep asking myself if things will get better.
Last August, my brother got a job with the Federal Government and they are yet to pay his salary up till now.
Is that fair? Does it shows that the government cares about us in any way? Such things get me confused so many times.
Or maybe the government will start to treat us better the moment we start to fight the power. Will that even work? There was a protest we created in Nigeria sometime ago and it eventually led to a massacre.
So what do we do? Is this how we sit and watch the government rule us anyhow and we will be deprived our rights? I’m not getting it.
All I’ve concluded in is that the government cares less about it and thatbis obvious.
