Amapiano Music: A South African Based Music Genre.
Music genres have different sounds, different patterns and even different vibes for each of them. That’s why, when we listen to the rap genre, the most popular dance style for it is either nodding our heads or breaking just like Michael Jackson’s dance.
I’ll be talking about Amapiano music genre today for those who haven’t heard about it before.
The Amapiano music originated from South Africa and it is a subgenre of Kwaito music which started coming into limelight in the middles 2010s. Hearing the word Amapiano, is the the meaning of “Piano” in the IsiZulu language in the Zulu tribe of South Africa.
When mentioning most popular music genre in Africa now, Amapiano just has to be one of them because it has gained a lot of audiences and fans.
Even though Amapiano music originates from South Africa, we now have people from Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania and so many other countries who sing Amapiano genre. That’s to show how much and well the music genre has spread in the world especially Africa.
And this music genre has gained a lot of fans all through the world. I know some white people who dance to Amapiano music today.
We all have to know what Amapiano music sounds like especially for some of us who haven’t heard or listened to Amapiano music before now.
I think Tshwala Bam is one of the moat popular and trending Amapiano songs today. That’s not just it but it has a dance step which makes it more interesting and luckily for the artiste, the dance step is appreciated and welcomed by so many people.
The funny thing about these guys is that they were never popular. They are just random guys who sing on streets of South Africa but after trying Amapiano music, they became well known and their skill in singing Amapiano music is really great.
I said earlier that not only South Africans sing Amapiano music today. Since it is now accepted all over Africa, a Ghanian street boy can just come up and make cool Amapiano song.
Here is Goya Menor, a Nigerian artiste who hails from Benin City and he’s one of the best Amapiano singing artiste from Nigeria. This is an interesting Amapiano song and he’s so skilled because he portrayed a bit of Afro pop in this song which makes it more interesting. I like this Amapiano song in particular.
Do you believe that it is a different kind of fun when you don’t know the meaning of a song but you can vibe to it? That’s exactly how I feel here. I can’t lie that I don’t know the meaning of this song but the fact that I appreciate it means that it is a good song and a good Amapiano song at that.
Amapiano isn’t new because it’s been here for over ten years but it’s the new trend and we gotta go with the flow.
How about it? Do you think you love Amapiano music?
