Hive Fest Opening Drinks

(Edited)

Just got to Plitvice lakes (accommodation near it) with a plan of spending a day on the lakes tomorrow. Guess what? It is going to rain all day tomorrow. Starting to think rain is following me 😂 At least waterfalls will be at full strength.

Back to the Hive Fest Split.

Hive Fest Split Boat Ride (1) copy.jpg

I arrived to Split on the day of the opening, after driving around 11 hours. Considering some people were flying for 24 hours and more, this was easy. But arriving at 10AM and being able to check in at 2PM was foreshadowing something that is pretty standard on Hive Fest.

Lack of sleep 😂
Hive Fest Split.jpg

After getting 3 hours of sleep in the last 30 or so hours i was off to the bar. In Amsterdam two years ago i was a bit worried how everything will look, how weird will it be to talk with people that i never met. And i knew no one.

There was no need for it, because all this weird people were great.

hive fest split 1.jpg

This time i was happy to see many faces, old and new. Also a bit embarrassed with forgetting a lot of names. I suck at names. I would say i am pretty good with faces, and there were a lot of familiar ones.

hive fest split 1.jpg

Photography side of it. I still didn't really check all the other days, so no idea how did i do. What i learned before and seen it with this first night, but can't stop doing, is that when i try to take photos and also film some video, i am not doing a great job at any of it. It is decent but not great :)

hive fest split 3.jpg

So i only got these usable photos. There were some more with people making weird faces. But not weird enough to be funny.

hive fest split croatia.jpg

I love candid photos, but sometimes still feel awkward (i would never guess how to spell this) taking them. If people don't notice me, cool shot or weird face. If they do, most of the time it goes to photo face or they try to ignore me but still conscious of the camera.

Now rereading it, this post is pure rambling :) I need to sleep, got the ticket to Plitvice lakes for 7AM. So rambling it is.

Photos from all the other days will probably happen from Sunday to somewhere into the next week. So you get another week of Hive Fest feelings.

I am also not tagging people. Most of you are public, but...

And also also. If you think for some weird reason that some of the photos are great feel free to use it. Credit is appreciated.

Don't worry about the rain. We visited the Plitvice Lakes before Hivefest, and imagine: we walked all day in the rain! But it was so beautiful!

It's nice to see our photos in your post :)

you were right :) only bad thing about the rain is that you can't really sit to take a rest and just enjoy. good thing about the rain, less people

Lakes are beautiful regardless! Besides, it would be kinda strange if now the weather decided to play nice after acting up all week, no?

Great pictures! 🤗

I think it's just her style of acting up differently every time,
heat at the beginning of Hivefest?😆

fotostef already came to conclusion that it is me :) because last year in greece traisto was "it almost never rains in Nafplio" And it rained super hard next day.

weather decided to be half generous, it rained but nothing like the weather forecast. and that was a good thing, because people trust weather forecast. At some point i was like where are the people, i need at least one to walk into this shot.

to be honest you do sometimes have that a bit of intimidating look 😂 ( i can say that now because i know i am far enough and safe 😄 )

i do remember at least 4-5 photos i took of you, so with confidence of not seeing the photos yet, i would say there will be at least 2. and maybe some i forgot.

(i totally missed the worldmappin contest 😞 )

Hahaha, you are never safe - I will find you 😎😁.
I heard that quite often... I know when I concentrate I apparently have an evil look :D but I am totally shy and harmless 😇. I would love to see those pics! <3 There will be other meetups with other contests, no worries.

Hahaha, you are never safe - I will find you 😎😁

good thing i am moving around every two days at the moment. bad thing, i am writing about it on a public blockchain 😁

I heard that quite often...

wait people say that to your face? i only did it because i know i am at least 10 hour drive away from you 😝

good to know it was not me tripping :)

i am still in Croatia. Not happy with editing on my laptop, especially on a touchpad (lost the Bluetooth for the mice). So the main part of the photos will be up when people start to forget about HiveFest :)

@bil.prag haha yes, they do 😎 - No worries, I can take it 👍🐝 Why are you moving so much? Still travelling?

  • Looking forward to see the rest of your pics.
If you have a nice one of me (I doubt it :D) - but if, feel free to send it to me on telegram or discord. I also still have to do a Hivefest post but didn't take many pictures as I was so busy talking to everyone all the time 😀😀 So I am happy to get some real great pics of the places we´ve been or of me from others. Of course I´ll let people know about your generosity :D.

When I was on my flight home, I couldn't wait to get back to my ordinary daily routine... Now, as time passes by, looking at these HiveFest photos that people are publishing, I would like to go back and have more fun... 😂

When next Hive meetup? Next month? 😃

What a great coincidence. We also had the same situation the day before hivefest. also from the very morning and also with an avalanche of rain. Have you been inspired by my article maybe? 😆
ps: pics are amazing thank you to ad with my face🙏🏻

avalanche of rain promised in early morning did not happen. rest of it did, but it was just a drizle and a lot of the path is under trees. and the heaviest rain was while i was on the boat. So overall great. not to much rain, not to much people :)

wow, amazingly filmed, so familiar place, we also hid on the boat when the strongest rain started

i was just lucky. the heavier rain started as we were walking onto the boat.

but looks like they missed the timing. just now the end of the world wind started with heavy rain. only 12 hours after they predicted it :D

you were explaining something really important :)

hard to keep up with all posts. i managed to almost do it with those posted in hivefest community, but than seen there are a lot not in the community with just a hivefest tag. i will be reading them the whole next week :D

glad we bumped to each other several times. Billiards ended up as a great idea for group socialising.

Thanks.

Talking about art is always important! ☺️
I totally understand, we're all excited talking about HiveFest and with the reality coming back, it's hard to keep up with everything. But thank you for stopping by as much as you can :)

Ohhh, this is so amazing to see this. Especially the video. Unfortunately, I had to miss the opening drinks, but this lets me enjoy it a little nevertheless. I came to your account to follow you, but as it turns out, I already did! And then I remembered that I spoke to you at some stage on Discord too haha. Memories are weird. Anyway, it's great to see your recap of the opening day, and read a little about your journey. If I lived in Europe (and on the mainland, not Ireland where I hid away for 10 years) then I definitely had driven to Split too. I love driving haha. But maybe another time, I'll actually do Hivefest by car. Who knows! Anyway, it was great to meet you, and hopefully I'll see you again next year!

memories are weird, and it already been 7 years of the chain. sometimes it feels like i was here from the start of internet and sometimes it feels like it was just now :)

driving in Europe can be fun, but it does need a bit of a planning and good planned stops. especially if you don't drive a lot of km regularly. Yesterday driving home i was like these km on my map are not moving down "drive 20 km than turn right" next look at the map that felt like at least 10min later "drive 18km than turn right" 😁

next year hive fest meet would be nice :)

Yeah, I completely missed my 7 year Hive anniversary this year, which was in June. I realized it about a month later. It does seem forever sometimes, but if I miss a few weeks, I always feel like I've missed so much, it's weird.

Yeah, I know driving in Europe can be like that. I used to drive quite a lot. When I was still living in the Netherlands, I used to drive everywhere, Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, you name it, but that's ages ago. Then I moved to Ireland and drove even more, but only within Ireland and maybe Northern Ireland sometimes. And that's completely different because there's hardly any traffic, so no stress or road rage (which is quite common in the Netherlands). But in Ireland I'd get lost all the time, LOL. I did drive back to the Netherlands via ferry and either France or the UK a few times, which is on a whole other level too. But since I came to Mexico, I have hardly driven any car. I still need to get my Mexican driver's license, which I've been putting off for a long time, but I know I need to get it at some point...Especially since my Irish license has expired now.
Ah well...

Yeah, I know what you mean when it feels like you've been driving for ages, and it's only a few km. It's worse in the UK when it's in miles! It's especially terrible when you really need a break and the next gas station is 10 miles, and then you get there and there's road works, so you have to drive another 20 miles to get to the next one. I've driven with my head out the window before because I was so tired, it was the only way to keep going, haha. I don't miss that!

Next year sounds like a plan!

Traffic and road rage is the reason i prefer driving at night. Yesterday driving home i encountered a highway traffic accident, 3 construction works with 100 of cars in the que, 50min at the border crossing, at one point i though the costumes confiscated all the turn signals at the border... Coming to Split i seen like 50 cars all together till the morning.

Yeah, I usually prefer driving at night, but here in Mexico it's advised not to. Which is fair enough because of the many road works, the weird way the road can go (straight into the jungle if not careful) and no lights anywhere. So if I have to drive here, it's in the day time. But in Europe I definitely prefer night time driving, although I can never get as many hours in, because my eyes strain in the dark.

But wow, that was quite some accident...I hope the people are OK.
LOL. Customs confiscating all the signs. Why not? They probably have them all hanging on their private driveways now LOL.
