My Introduction Post to Hive

My name's Derek but most people call me Zing, a high school nicki that seems to be stuck. I'm from Ghana and currently in my sophomore year in college, studying to become a biologist.

I discovered hive on X and created my account a few months ago. I've been following closely on all the updates trying to familiarize myself with the platform.
The main thing that kept me coming back again and again is the sense of community here on #hivecommunity.
I admire the way artists are supported amd encouraged here.
Being an artist I haven't had much confidence in putting myself out there but with each second I spend on #Hive I get more confident in myself.

My Singing Addiction

I have an addiction to music that keeps burning from within.
Its for this reason my friends call be Zing(sing) because I literally can't go about my day without singing.
It's a yearning in me.
It's an escape from my bleak reality. With music I can close my eyes amd lose myself in the darkness as my mind wonders away with the lyrics. My worries seem non-existent and the feeling is as if I'm in a different world, one where im in control, where the harsh realities do not threaten to drown me.
Living in a world of dull noise its easy to get mesmerized and swept off into addiction by music.

Songwriting

I've been writing music since i was 10 and it's one thing I'm glad I do.
In the quietness of my company, I write my heart out, the pain becoming melody and dreams becoming lyrics.
I lose myself in the ink and I come afloat with melodies that hit the strings of the heart.
Maybe that's what's kept me going, my lyrics book.
Due to severe anxiety I've never actually made a step to put any of my music out there, although I am a freelance songwriter.

With how much support I see in #Vibes weekly music competition I believe this will be changing soon. I'll finally be putting myself out there.

Apart from writing music I also love to #write articles.
Creative writing and copywriting are usually the type of writing I do.
The first rule for #writing is reading.
And this is the best part for me.
Getting to go out there and dig, uncover new information, some very dumbfounding.
I just live for those moments where my mouth forms an 'O'' when I learn about something mind-blowing I was completely clueless about.
Over the course of the years I've developed an appetite for making discoveries.
And that got me into research writing.

I have a thing for cryptocurrencies.
It all started back when i had needed to send money to someone in the US to purchase something for me. Due to so many payment platforms #blacklisting Africa, I went through hell before eventually being able to send the money but had to pay almost twcie the intended amount to cover the transaction fees.
I had never been so frustrated in my life as I had been over that issue.
After bemoaning my plight to my friend @glory-clarkson, he recommended using cryptocurrency next time. I've never been happier.
This was years ago by the way.
Since then, I've been invested in cryptocurrency.

I owe my current level of enlightenment when it comes to cryptocurrencies and how they operate to @theycallmedan and @poshtoken whom ive been following on X over the years.

Now that I'm here I wish to contribute and to become a useful person to the community.
