My Teen Sketchbook
Ciaos collectors, it is me again. These days I got a bit distant from blogs in general, so it feels like a whole eternity and not just a week since I posted the blog about vinyls. I want to add something else that I think is fitting to be part of this community. Since I was already at home last week I remembered to take photos of my small collection of specific drawings from elementary school, so around 2011 and 2012, maybe even the start of high school. It was not that long ago, but it feels like at least three decades and not just one and a few years more.
Back then, my group of friends and I, we had a real mania for drawing during classes, even the ones who were not that talented. It was some kind of trend in our class. Almost each of us carried one A4 notebook with blank pages besides our books and subject notebooks, and that was our painting notebook. It started with graffiti, we wrote our names and the names of our crushes and tried to be as original as possible. Since graffiti and creating them were not really my thing, I switched to the names of rock bands that I already listened to a lot and knew well. A couple of my friends and I from that little "rock crew" were competing to paint the logos as best as we could.
Of course, to make the drawing better, I often leaned the paper on the computer desktop and traced a bit, at least the start, just enough to know roughly where to place things later. The motto was find a wa, hihi. I drew with a pencil and then colored the finished drawing with markers. I remember being annoyed because my Aerosmith drawing was much better before I started coloring. I was pretty happy with the others. How do they look to you?

Iron Maiden, the first among the best both as a drawing and as my favorite foreign band ever. ❤️ I think I even wrote in some blog before, though that was two years ago and probably almost nobody saw it, about how my music taste was formed back then.
Since I was little I was surrounded mostly by rock music, both local and foreign. My parents used to put my sister and me to sleep next to a speaker that usually played Zabranjeno Pusenje, Parni Valjak, Babe, Bijelo Dugme and also Kerber whose logo I painted here.

They played us all kinds of things and when I grew up a bit I realized I liked the harder sound even more, especially in fourth grade, the start of puberty and that simple need to show your own direction. For me it was a mix of things that normally should not fit together. 😁 I did not want to call myself a metalhead, or the opposite, I did not like to put that in the spotlight because for me music is enjoyment in the real sense of the word and not a way to stand out or look special. I mean, it is silly to do that with anything and especially not with music. But yes, people found it strange when I later went to biker gatherings and rock concerts wearing pink jeans, Nike sport sneakers and a Maiden shirt, with two long braids like I was going to dance in a Serbian folklore practice. So whaaat? I loved it.

Besides rock music, over the years I even fell in love with our traditional folk, the real one, Serbian dvojka, Bosnian sevdah, anything that is well written, well made and can touch the soul and warm you up.
So today it is really rare for me not to like something, I am simply a music lover.. Even these newer trap and kind of rap autotune styles that everyone keeps attacking and denying, there is something nice in that too. Maybe it is a fast industry, maybe it will be quickly forgotten, but as long as it is catchy and grabs your attention and makes you feel good in some moment, why should we act shocked and pretend we do not listen to it, that our ears bleed from it and that the world will end because music went ina wrong way. The same goes for people who deny every movie made in the 21st century, like everything is bad... there are no good movies anymore... no good music, no good food, nothing is good and they fall into nostalgia no matter what. Sometimes it feels like that is the real trend now, this constant judging and putting down everything modern and praising everything old. Sorry I went into another topic a bit but it is all somehow connected for me. What do u think about that?
Let us love each others, enjoy things, support one another and maybe we will create something beautiful from that, in music, in cinematography, in other arts or just in everyday life. 🤗🥰😍

Hahaha, I can relate to this. Although if I were the teacher in the lessons where you would draw instead of paying attention... hm... not sure if I would react in a positive way lol 🤣 but now, as that habit contributed to the creation of this collection, I can say that it was a great idea!! Love these drawings! 👌
Ayyy, I would never tell that, think you'd be a real badass teacher everyone loves the most. 🤗🥰 Thank youuu, glad u like them. Means a lot when it comes from an artist like you!
I remember my drawing lessons in elementary school. But not in art classes, but in music education classes.
And all that, with the blessing of the professor.
Namely, that was our task. The professor plays a piece of classical music, and we express the emotions that the music creates for us through a drawing :-)
It was a long time ago. So long ago that I could easily be classified in the generation of those you write about here:
However, I've spent my whole life in the company of younger people (younger than me) and I'm not one of those who will say that only "before" was better.
Every time brings new changes and every generation lives them as its own reality.
I believe that today's twenty-year-olds will remember their youth with nostalgia in thirty years, when they will claim that that time was the best...
Of course, everything was better when we were young, but this time is now, for some it is the time of youth and as such, it is the best, with everything it brings.
Almost wrote: yesss, those were good teachers and a good class program (unlike what we have today xD) - 100 percent contradiction. 😁
We had something similar: from time to time, our music teacher would play piano for us and we would spend a good part of the class with our eyes closed, imagining pictures in our heads and then in the second half of the class we would talk about what each of us had imagined. It was like drawing in our minds. 🥰
Sometimes I feel a bit sad that I don't do anything truly creative as a profession, only as a hobby when inspiration strikes once in like never..
And one more compliment for the newer generations: it seems to me that they get moving much faster when they want something; they don't have those social insecurities that most of us born in the last century felt sooner or later.
