Hola, gente de Internet ¿todo bien? Es mi primera vez escribiendo en esta comunidad y mi hermana @mairene1 me mencionó en esta iniciativa y me pareció muy buena idea participar así que me emociona bastante :3
I want to talk about one of my favourite singer-songwriters, the ‘Korean Ricardo Arjona’ his name is Yesung and he belongs to the boyband Super Junior. Although in the group Yesung sings kpop, as a solo artist he sings different genres to his liking such as pop ballads, 80's pop, jazz and aesthetic music to name a few. His lyrics are very varied but he has the ability to make ‘weird’ topics like his pets or anorexia sound good, and yes, some of my favourite phrases of his lyrics belong to a protest song against anorexia (a disease that appeared in his adulthood with which he fights every day) and to raise awareness about the disease, especially in his younger female fans.
Quiero hablar de uno de mis cantautores preferidos, el "Ricardo Arjona Coreano" su nombre es Yesung y pertenece a la boyband Super Junior. Aunque en el grupo Yesung canta kpop, en solitario canta distintos géneros de su agrado como baladas pop, pop de los 80's, jazz y música aesthetic por mencionar algunos. Sus letras son muy variadas pero tiene la facilidad de hacer sonar bien temas tan "raros" como sus mascotas o la anorexia, y es que sí, algunas de mis frases preferidas de sus letras pertenecen a una canción de protesta hacia la anorexia (enfermedad que apareció en su adultez con la que combate a diario) y para crear conciencia sobre la enfermedad, sobre todo en sus fans femeninas más jóvenes
The other song is about the soul mate that most people are waiting for even without knowing who he is, what his name is, what he does, but that many imagine, also, in his song, Yesung mentions the Asian legend of the red thread, which says that at each end of a red thread (the colour of love and passion) two lovers meet, moving forward, following the path of the thread until they reach the middle and meet each other. Let's start by talking about my favourite lines from this song.
La otra canción trata sobre el alma gemela que la mayoría espera aun sin saber quien es, como se llama, a que se dedica, pero que muchos imaginan, además, en su canción, Yesung hace mención a la leyenda asiática del hilo rojo, la cual dice que en cada extremo de un hilo rojo (el color del amor y la pasión) dos amantes se encuentran, avanzando, siguiendo el camino del hilo hasta llegar al medio y encontrarse. Empecemos hablando de mis frases preferidas de esta canción.
The first sentence reads ‘What kind of person are you? What kind of life do you lead? I have so many questions if we ever meet. Clearly he is singing to his soul mate whom he has not yet met, so these kinds of questions are normal, he is interested in who this special person will be, what he does or will do when he meets her, and he also expresses his fervent desire to meet her soon.
La primera frase reza "¿Que clase de persona eres? ¿Qué clase de vida llevas? Tengo muchas preguntas si alguna vez nos encontramos. Ya quiero conocerte, mi amor" Claramente está cantándole a su alma gemela que aún no conoce, por consiguiente esta clase de preguntas son normales, se interesa por quién será esa persona especial, a qué se dedica o se dedicará para cuando la conozca y además, también expresa su ferviente deseo de conocerla pronto.
‘Even if I have to wait a long time, it doesn't matter, I am dreaming that you will answer my first greetings, because on that day, I will find you’ In this sentence he not only shows his desire to find her and meet her but he is also convinced that he will know who she is, and that is why he will wait for her, he knows that day will come.
"Incluso si debo esperar mucho, no importa, estoy soñando con que respondas mis primeros saludos, porque ese día, te encontraré" En esta frase no solo muestra su deseo de encontrarla y conocerla sino que también está convencido de que sabrá quien es, y es por eso que la esperará, sabe que ese día llegará.
Finally, the last sentence ‘Please take care of yourself wherever you are in this world’ is a kind of ‘see you later’ to your special person and a fervent wish that she will be well enough to make it to the day of the meeting.
Por último, la última frase "Por favor cuídate donde quiera que estés en este mundo" es una especie de "hasta luego" a su persona especial y el ferviente deseo de que se encuentre bien para poder llegar al día del encuentro.
I love this song for the depth it has, the way it is made is clearly as if it were a letter, that denotes his way of ‘saying goodbye’ to his soul mate, in addition, the depth of the lyrics and how he gave it strength with a legend very dear to many that also represents very well, and not to mention the way he interpreted it... simply beautiful.
Me encanta esta canción por la profundidad que tiene, la forma en la que está hecha es claramente como si fuese una carta, eso lo denota su forma de "despedirse" de su alma gemela, además, la profundidad de la letra y como le dio fuerza con una leyenda muy querida por muchos que además representa muy bien, y ni hablar de su forma de interpretarla... sencillamente hermosa
The following song is, as I said, a protest to anorexia and has very lovely lines as the context Yesung gave it is of a boyfriend encouraging his girlfriend to eat and not to care what others think of her weight and appearance, that this is how he loves her and how he likes her, healthy. It's a song he wrote to his fans with an eating disorder that they in turn sing back to him when they know he is about to relapse or to prevent him from doing so. Let's say that today it is a song of mutual support between the singer and his fans.
La siguiente canción es, como les dije, una protesta a la anorexia tiene frases muy adorables ya que el contexto que le dio Yesung es de un novio que anima a su novia a comer y a que no le importe lo que los demás opinen de su peso y apariencia, que él así la ama y así le gusta, saludable. Es una canción que le escribió a sus fans con dicho trastorno alimenticio que a su vez ellas le cantan de vuelta cuando saben que está por recaer en la enfermedad o para evitar que lo haga. Digamos que hoy día es una canción de mutuo apoyo entre el cantante y sus fans.
The first sentence ‘Don't skip a meal just because I'm not around, if you keep getting thinner, I'll get angry’ hints at a problem that many ‘Korean boyfriends’ deal with and that is that girls are more likely to want to achieve Korean beauty standards (which are super absurd regarding weight by the way) and believe that if they gain weight their boyfriends will stop liking them, which causes them to develop eating disorders that actually affect the relationship more. With the phrase Yesung wanted to portray a firm boyfriend who gets ‘strict’ as this is the only way he can try to help his girlfriend.

Con la frase Yesung quiso retratar a un novio firme que se pone "estricto" ya que es la única forma en la que puede intentar ayudar a su novia.
‘I'm not lying, look me in the eyes, I like the way you are now, please go somewhere and eat something’ With this phrase he simply wants to soften his words and reassure his girlfriend to reassure her about her health, appearance and weight, and to encourage her to eat properly.
"No estoy mintiendo, mírame a los ojos, me gusta como estás ahora, por favor ve a algún lugar y come algo" Con esta frase simplemente quiere suavizar sus palabras y tranquilizar a su novia para darle seguridad sobre su salud, apariencia y peso, además de alentarla a alimentarse correctamente
‘Yesung is referring to the designers and fashion designers in her country, who come up with trends with incredibly small sizes that encourage disorders, because when a healthy weight girl is measured in one of these clothes, they have the false feeling of being fat, and society does not help with its derogatory comments about ‘fat’ girls when they are 50 kg in weight.
"si la ropa te aprieta, es culpa de ellos, ya no pienses en la gente que te mira, son ellos" Yesung se refiere a los diseñadores y responsables de la moda en su país, los cuales proponen tendencias con tallas increíblemente pequeñas que fomentan los trastornos, ya que cuando una chica de peso saludable se mide una de estas prendas, tienen la falsa sensación de estar gorda, además la sociedad no ayuda con sus comentarios despectivos con las chicas "gordas" cuando tienen 50 kg de peso.
This song serves as a protest as well as a very adorable and friendly way to promote food intake and promote physical and mental health to the detriment of society and the almost unattainable standards existing in Korea (Country where the artist is from and resides). Being a taboo subject, although it is a quite notorious and strong problem, his courage to talk about it without fear of being hated is one of the things I liked the most about the song and Yesung in general.
Esta canción sirve como protesta además de fomentar de manera muy adorable y amigable la ingesta de alimentos y promueve la salud física y mental en detrimento de la sociedad y los estandartes casi inalcanzables existentes en Corea (País de donde es y reside el artista) Siendo un tema tabú, aunque es un problema bastante notorio y fuerte, su valentía al hablar del tema sin temor a la "funa" es de las cosas que más me gustaron del tema y de Yesung en general

Really your melodies are beautiful, with a lot of feeling and a warm voice that embraces the soul, even if you don't understand what they say 😅.
