Hello there, music lovers!

We're back on the hottest contest for music in all web3. Unfortunately, last time, I came I was preparing for a festival. Newsflash, I didn't make it to the next round, but taking part was another trial of my road as a musician. Fortunately, partaking into these contests on Hive is free and you can do it weekly. Isn't it lovely?

Today, I come with another song from the Traditional Venezuelan repertoire. This one is very special. Back when I was in college, a group of musicians gathered to play some music for the elderly in the only institution in my hometown that takes care of them. It was a beautiful day and this was one of the waltzes we play. On that occasion we had one the winner of the female section of the singing contest held each year at UDO (my alma matter). The faces of the people and their joy was something amazing. And next year, I went again with a friend to play some instrumental music as part of an activity to help some other students' community service. And guess what, this waltz was also on the repertoire.

I listened to a version of this played in the entry for La Siembra del Cuatro Festival and wanted to try my own version. So here I brought a version of this waltz named Bercelonesa (woman from Barcelona, not the one in Spain, but the one in Venezuela) by composer Enrique Hidalgo. It's a really beautiful song. Its lyrics are basically a poem for women of this city. There are tons of version of it, but I like the one by singer Gualberto Ibarreto a lot.

One of the loveliest things to do on my instrument, the Venezuelan Cuatro, is make it sing the melody and harmony at the same time. Something that almost always gets my brain fried and my fingers tangled. But from time to time, I'm able to put together performances like this one. My face looks like a poker one, but I'm trying my best not to get to carried away by music or I would lose the line of the melody. It's such a hard thing to do. If I were a singer, you'd laugh at all the expression I'd make. I know it for a fact since I was a choir singer for years.

But that's enough about that, I hope you enjoy my cover of this beautiful song!
