Hive Music Festival | Week 67, round 1 | Doña Mentira by Aldemaro Romero (Soloist Cover) 🎶🎶

We are back after a break on last cycle of presentations. For these new rounds, I have the pleasure of be presenting some versions of Aldemaro Romero' Songs on soloist Venezuelan Cuatro.

We start off with "Doña Mentira". This song has lyrics as many of the ones composed by Romero, but it became quite popular an instrumental piece. There are some amazing versions around the internet that do wonder since the main theme of the song is really short and the harmonization gives way to create amazing variations with chord melodies or interval playing.

The fingerstyle part of this piece was quite a challenge. It was the bit that took me a long time to learn. And yes, it is simple in terms of movement on a scale, but the dynamics of the movement make it hard. Add to it the need to know when to pull two strings instead of three and you have a recipe for something you need to study really slow and then keep speeding up.

As far as the version goes, mine is in the real of the simple. It is a homage to the main theme of the song and that's why I didn't add anything else than an intro and outro to the piece. There goes my cover,

Volvimos después de un descanso en las rondas anteriores. Para este ciclo nuevo de presentaciones del Hive Music Festival, nos vamos con el tema de Aldemaro Romero en Cuatro Solista.

Para comenzar mi participación en el festival tenemos el tema "Doña Mentira". Una canción que tiene una letra muy interesante pero que no es parte de esta presentación. El tema también goza de una buena popularidad en versión instrumental. Existen versiones increíbles donde los músicos aprovechan lo simple de la melodía para trabajar en líneas melódicas muy complejas utilizando rearmonización e intérvalos.

La parte punteada de la pieza fue un reto. Es una línea muy simple desde lo melódico, pero en lo mecánico implica mucha coordinación. Hay que tener muy claro cuando se halan dos cuerdas en vez de tres para no echar a perder la línea. Fue una de las cosas que me obligaron a estudiar más lento de la cuenta para poder progresar.

En términos de versión, la mías es mucho más simple que las demás. No hay interludio y solo añadí una introducción y un final. Así que ahí va mi cover,
